    just bought a 21829

Hi everybody. I'm new to this forum, though I've been lurking a few days.

My S.O. bought me a Ryobi CMS for Christmas. It needed company so I've been looking for a BT3100. After hunting for a week and realizing that they ain't anywhere, ('cept a beat up display model in Lockport NY) I bought a 21829 at a local Sears for ... got the Craftsman Club discount.

Unfortunately, they have to order it and it will be here at the end of February. In the meantime, I'll be clearing a space for it in the basement.

First projects will be a featherboard and a pusher stick.

I'm anxious, so I've got a lot of questions:

Does it come with a dust bag?

How easy is it to hook up a shop vac?

Will it make a lot of dust in my basement?

How well does the router attachment work?

Thanks, and don't laugh too hard when I ask dumb questions!

    Hi,

I also recently (last 2 weeks) bought my 21829.

As another project, look at this: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...ightNavHowTo#1

    A) no dust bag
    B) Yes, just stick a 2.25" hose right in the back (it moves with the blade)
    C) Yes, use bag or vac (bag can be bought seperately here: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZkomatoast69QQhtZ-1 along with other addons for the saw
    D) I loved the router attachment. It's quite secure, the fence wood could use an upgrade (longer pieces), but it does a good job.

    Take care

You will love the saw. It does make a lot of dust, as any table saw will, but the dust collection is great if you use a shop vac or dust collector. The port takes a standard 2 1/2 inch vac hose and works quite well. If you don't use some form of dust collection, saw dust will spray a good 10 feet! before I got a DC unit I attached an elbow that would blow the saw dust into a box. That worked ok, but not great. Too bad you have to wait over a month for the saw. When I bought mine I had to put it in storage for a while and I couldn't stand it. I spent a lot of time on this website. Have fun!

Welcome to the forum...good saw, set it up according to the step by step instructions and it should serve you well for a long time to come.

As for dust bag...I don't know that...maybe /maybe not comes with saw.
If it doesn't....I'll sell mine to you real chaep if you want it.

As for the router set up...it is a good starter set up...but you will probably
          outgrow it in time.

or answered yet. we all have been there and done that so to speak.
We know how you feel at this point.

Welcome aboard. Since you have to wait for the saw, you'll have plenty of time to check out all the threads relating to the BT3K and your Sears model. The more you know about your saw, the more enjoyment you'll get right from the get-go.

Craftsman days start on 1/7-15th. The 21829 saw is $359 after the craftsman discount!! If you paid more, bring the reciept back for a credit. I am buying mine this week!! Can not wait...

Fortunately, I did get the Craftsman discount. The local Sears outlet was kind enough to give it to me yesterday before the promotion started. Now only if they could get me the saw faster. All I have now is a receipt saying I spent a lot of $$$. Oh well - at least I have time to organize a work area and read about what I'm getting into.

To get the saw for $359 you have to be in the "Craftsman Club." It's a no-cost sign up that puts you on their mailing list. Just call 800-682-8691. They probably can give you a member number you can use right away.

Cool beans. I just got off the phone with them and they said 3-4 weeks. Gonna try to just force the issue down at the store and see what happens.

I just came from Sears and received the difference in price I payed($400) and the current CC members price($40) when I purchased mine 3 weeks ago.
