BT3000 Removing DC plate by blade

I have put a large DC basin with 4" connection under the saw which will be connected to my DC.
I am thinking of removing the plate to the outboard side of the blade which acts as a trap for the rear DC 2 1/2" port on the the saw. I doing this I think all the dust will drop down, not go back?
Anyone tried this or am I better to leave the plate in place and connect the shop vac to the rear port?

Seasons Greetings and Happy New Year.
    Cheers

I think if you do this a great amount of dust will still be slung out the port because of the rotation of the blade discharging to the rear by throwing particles from within the gullets - everything that leaves the gullets in the first 180 degrees of rotation after being cut - from centripetal forces will follow the shroud to the port exit.
