BT3100 Service Center

I have just got a BT3100 from HD. Everybody knows that the BT3100 has been discontinued due to unknown reason. It is hard to find one in HD now. I have called over 10 HD stores in Boston area, most of them have none, two of them still have in stock. One of the store sales said they have a pretty good floor model. I went there and checked it out, looks like it is in pretty good shape, only a few small things missing, like miter fence adjusting clamp, power switch key, wrenches, rail end plugs. The manager offer me $200 for this, I bargain with him, and after some effort convince him, I finally got it for $150. He said I should be able to get those missing parts from Ryobi service center. Does anyone here know any information about this? Do you have any experience of getting missing parts from them? Are there going to be some trouble getting this? Thanks a lot!

I think you'll find the M&D Mower people helpful from what I've seen here.
In Canada we call Ordertree and they have always been good service up here. Not sure about their American operation (Dixie Sales?).

I just called the customer service, they said if the homedepot gave you discount on that, then you had to order the missing parts. I guess there is no way to get free parts now.

I don't think the HD salesperson meant to imply you could get them for free. It makes sense to me that you were given a discount on the saw because you would have to pay to get the missing parts.

I think its up in the air whether a manufacturere wil give free parts if you buy a floor model with missing parts. Some do, some don't, it may depend upon the mood of the people you talk to that day. In your case they said no.

I think the discount price you pay takes into account several things -
superficial damage, missing parts, time spent bringing it up to useful condition, and aggravation. And other intangibles like whether you'll be able to talk the factory customer service out of the parts or not.

It doesn't sound too much like thparts you are missing are real expensive. The list of places MSchrank listed are valid. I hear lately the most responsive has been M&D.

Hint: if you are missing both wrenches, you only need one (for the arbor lock); they both have the arbor locking fitting on one end. For the other end a 1/2" combination wrench will work for the blade guard assy and a 3/4" will work for the arbor. They're better wrenches. I picked some up at a local pawn shop. for about a $1-$1.50 each, or you can just go to your toolbox for those.

Excellent Performance with BT3100

I have just get the BT3100 set up. I made some small parts to make it work. I have several test cut with it, I am surprised by its performance. Before I had a Ryobi BTS10, which is basically a piece of crap compare to BT3100. I love my new BT3100, I think that is why it is the most favorite TS in this forum. If I did not visit this forum, I would never get this thing. It should serve me a long time. Thanks guys for all the information.
