Freud SD-206 is what I have, and love it. But some here have the Avenger 6" Dado set and are equally fond of them- plus they Avenger set is a little cheaper (money wise) than the Freud set.

Some folks use an 8" dado stack, and some have clearance problems. I didn't bother finding out, I started out with the 6" stack and it works for me.

Freud SD-206 is what I have too - and I also love it. it's the blade that most members here seem to recommend.

you have to take the spacers off the arbor to get a dado on. Then the blade can go closer to the motor and it will be wider.

Get the SD206. good combo of quality and cost.
Avenger mentioned is out of production, company closed but they don't stack up according to nominal sizes anyway.

As Loring mentioned, the Avenger doesn't stack to nominal sizes, but it's pretty easy to get around that. I have the Avenger, and I'm quite happy with it, and if you can find one on closeout, the price should be great.

I am also sure that the Freud is a great set.
