    Power switch on display model

I was in a local HD yesterday.
While looking to see the condition of the display model BT3, I notice that it has a different on/off switch than my 1 yr old machine.
The one I have is the usual red plastic toggle..lift to on/push to off.

This one has a hard plastic black cover with a black rocker switch underneath it. The lock-out mechanism is a wire that slips through this cover near the bottom. You lift the cover and turn on the switch, then push against the cover to turn off.
Kind of a strange set-up but the switch appears to be of better quality than the one we all complain about. It also appears that one could replace it easier with a standard quality rocker switch if it ever failed.
Is this an older machine on display or a newer one?

My BT is about two years old and has this switch. I always thought the red toggle was an "upgrade."

Sounds like the switch on my early (2001 or 02) BT3000. I really like it this way.

Sounds like they have an older model on display there...my BT is about 4 yrs old and has the rocker switch you describe.

That saw probably also has the good old Freud blade on it as well.

Yeah, that's the older one, allright. I know they had trouble with them, but mine has always worked, and I like it. I just punch it or knee it from practically any angle, and it shuts off. I'll miss it if it ever goes.
