    what do you guys think?

    a) 12" Delta planer - $110!
(posting will likely be removed soon)

    b) Delta 10" Table saw that needs some cleaning up - but only $25!

    c) Hitachi 10" Table saw -- not quite as irresistible - but still half decent price

Look like some good deals. I had that Delta planer many moons and several moves ago- decent at the time, but basic. No cutter head lock, IIRC, but snipe was manageable. Don't know about that Delta saw, but how can you go wrong for $25? Know nothing about the Hitachi. In any case, there could be some potential gloats and sucking sounds in your future

      Planer:
22-540 (aka TP305) has no cutterhead lock, for me a deal breaker. Bottom of the line unit.
I'd hold out for a 22-560 (aKA TP-400, or TP400LS with leg stand) or 22-580 which have cutterhead locks, much better. I have a 22-560, pretty good planer, popular.

      Saws:
Both look to be pretty low end units.

The planer sounds too cheap. Both saws appear to be direct drive models. If a portable jobsite model is what you need, they might be a consideration. I would watch for at least a good contractors type saw.

I bought the planer. Skipped the saws (besides - I have my BT!).

$100 is hard to beat for a Delta planer. I see why one might be concerned about the cutterhead lock. Will see how things go - but I already have a couple of friends that would be happy to buy it from me if I want to upgrade.

Durango doesn't see a lot of good tools for sale. Cortez, Farmington, and Pagosa are all 50 miles away (none of them have good tool stores, either).

Owner had original manual, receipt, and everything. Doesn't look like it's had a ton of use (blades still look good). A bit of grease on the gears - but I think that's normal. The owner mostly planed down redwood for deck work --- that's a soft wood.

$100 for a decent planer is fantastic. You did well.

I've had that planer for about 10 yrs and I really like it. The fact that it doesn't have a cutter head lock shouldn't concern you with this machine. I haven't missed it. The blades are sharpened on both sides but you may need a really good penetrating oil to get them out. I had one bolt that took a 12 hour soaking with Kroil (2 sprays) to get it loose. Don't struggle and strip. Just spray if any give you trouble! Enjoy!
