    HF Digital Caliper

Just got a fresh e-mail from HF:
    http://www.harborfreight.com/6-inch-...tm_source=1003

That 6" digital caliper that Loring introduced me to which is usually on sale at $20, can be had for $12 with the current coupon. I think i got mine for $16, but may buy another at $12 just 'cuz i use it ALL the time.

    That's a great caliper. I got one when it was $9.95. I couldn't resist.

I am tempted too... I have one of those plastic ones that you can't score a line with

FWIW, I've been buying my 2032 batteries at the 'Dollar Tree' store. (My Wixey readouts eat them like candy!)

The dollar batteries work fine and last as long as the high-priced ones.

These take the LR44 sized batteries. $3.50 at Radio shack but you can buy em by the dozen or tens on eBay for around a dollar (per ten), and at hobby stores.

My 'Dollar Tree' store carries packs of four LR44's for a buck. Can't understand how they can make them, package them, ship them, inventory them and still sell for buck.

(BTW, I was just looking at your BT3 FAQ's, again. Thanks for all your work on the project. A really great compendium of BT3 info!)

                  Are the packages date coded?

I don't use my HF digital because of batteries and because of the digital readout. Instead I bought a fractional dial caliper which has the "old fashioned" analog scale readout. No conversion and no batteries!

The first one of these I bought several years ago had an auto shutoff to save batteries.
I used it daily and the first battery lasted well over a year.
The newer couple I bought do not have auto cutoff. It will kill a battery in a day if I forget to turn it off.
I keep one at my desk and a couple around the shop.
                      Great tools for the price.
I find them to be very accurate and easy to use.
I have vernier calipers as well, but never use those. Too hard to see.
Older eyes and digital readouts have really spoiled me.

I like my 'cordless' caliper, too!

Sometimes, when the grandkids are around, I break out my 'cordless' calculator (by Pickett ).

The latest HF ad in some of my magazines ran this coupon.
