Houston Residents - Mastercraft Tool Cabinets - $75-$175

For those fellow Houstonians (and surrounding areas) such as LCHIEN. One of the Habitat for Humanity Re-Stores (6161 S Loop E) have quite a bit of Mastercraft tool cabinets in stock. Scratch and dent. A couple are friction slides and several are ball bearing. Casters in drawers, keys taped to front.

Please excuse my lack of proper photo linking etiquette.

Are these cabinets worth it - better than something like craftsman. I called today and they still have a bunch. I have been in the market for a while - if they are a pretty good deal I may pick up a set.

I have not been back since taking those photos. Therefore I'm not really sure what they still have in stock.

I'm not an expert in tool cabinets and have never owned one but they looked pretty good (and I imagine better and more sturdy than the standard Craftsman amateur model that you would find at Sears).. I know that you definitely want to go for the cabinets with ball bearing drawers instead of the slides. They had both. Quite a few to choose from.

If I remember correctly, I looked up the company online and did not find much. I believe it's a Canadian company.

The Re-Store was revamped a bit. They also had CRT monitors and some paper towel and soap dispensers that you would see in a public bathroom. They also had a massive amount of paver type stones outside. I'm talking dozens and dozens of pallets worth.

I think there is more than one Re-Store in Houston. You may want to call others if they are closer to you.

So I went up today - they still had a ton. I was going to bite the bullet until this guy comes up to me and asks me when "we were going to put them on sale because they have been sitting there for 3 months and haven't sold any". I am not going to wait until they go on sale - I think it is a real good deal now. I will probably pick up a set next week. I am very excited - thanks for putting me onto these. It looks like high quality cabinets at a very cheap price.

I'm told that one receives a Re-Store coupon after helping build a Habitat house. This would be a perfect time to have one. Another good reason to volunteer.

I didn't see anything like this in Georgetown a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if any will find their way to Austin. Just what I need....saving MORE money .

Just an update that these are now 25% off the original prices. The sign said through today ("Father's Day Sale") but I'm willing to bet that the sale will be ongoing. A couple of weeks ago they were listed as 10% off as a Memorial Day promotion and stated that the sale would end back then. But in fact they seem to be reducing the items further. Definitely do not have as many in stock as they did when they first arrived but still an entire side of one aisle is full.
