If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

If they are so handy, I wonder why they have them on CLOSEOUT?

They knew it would annoy you.

It doesn't annoy me at all, I just wonder how useful this gadget is. I already have a number of other devices in my shop that will do what this thing does. And, considering it only reads out in decimals, it isn't that convenient to use.

Ver 2.0 will read in fractions. Just watch.

You'll notice that it does indeed read out in fractions. I believe it to be the same display as their fractional caliper aside from the locking mechanism.

I've used it several times and found it more convenient than anything I had before.

Thanks for the heads up. I've got a metal one like the gauge in this rockler package. It's a bit rusty and hard to read. I mostly use it as a story stick because I can't read the graduations anymore.

From Rocklers Ad: "Measure depths from 0 to 4" with inch, metric or fraction readout modes! Springloaded travel provides accuracy to 0.001". Check the depth of slots, dovetails, mortises, dadoes and more. Quickly quantify table saw runout and measure the flatness of your blade. Interchangeable 1" and 2" measuring bars included. "

Thanks for the tip! Ordered the depth gauge and a Square Check for Tape Measure (item# 37096 - little thingy that goes on end of tape measure) for $2.99.

I didn't want mine to be lonely in the box either. I picked up another glass wheel & some fine abrasives for my worksharp, and a big eraser (sanding belt cleaner) at checkout

So now I'm beginning to feel guilty about not ordering any extras with it ... maybe the solo journey will be character building.

Well, it's really just an excuse. I'm sure it would be ok by itself, gotta grow up sometime.

I was the one having problems checking out with just one item in my cart.
