    Here's a deal....

I'm sick and tired of paying $10 or even $15 for replacement filters for the Ridgid Shop Vac. Decided to try the 3 pack of re-usable filter bags from Harbor Freight for $3.99.

    Gotta say, works great.

Put a little hole in the bottom of the filter and tighten the plastic doo-hickey down.

Those used to be on the metal canistered shop vac's, with a foam surround (80's shop vacs).

Is there any stated filtration efficiency on the packaging? I didn't see anything stating the perfromance online.

It can't be any worse than the shop vac filter that's there now. This bag goes on over the existing filter and keeps the big stuff from clogging the filter. At least that's how I see it.

FWIW, I have 2 of the Ridgid HEPA filters, they are washable, and I simply swap in a clean one when the one in the vac gets plugged and keep working, wash the dirty one and set it on a shelf ready to go...

How is just the bag filter working?

OK. As a prefilter I see the advantage. I started using the shopvacŪ bags but they run about $3 each. I keep the cartridge filter on the vac as well which really controls the dust.

I bought a "clean stream" air filter for my ridgid vac a few years ago, haven't bought one since. You blow it out then wash it.

If you are throwing out the filters when they start getting plugged you are not getting your money's worth. I blow mine out with my compressor (outside) and use one for years before I replace it.

I second that. It is a Shop Vac, not a dust collector. I just shake loose the filter and put it back.
