    MSUV at Direct Tools

I was in the Direct Tools Outlet Store here yesterday and saw the Ridgid MSUV, mafjed as "Factory Blemished" for $139.00. The price was redused from $159.00 so it may not apply to all stores.

I tried to check retail at HD last night but couldn't find the MSUV on their website. Seems to me that current retail is $199. I plan to go back out with my checkbook this afternoon.

For the past several years HD puts the MSUV on sale for $99, usually around March or April. I can't remember for sure but they may also do this on Black Friday.

It wouldn't hurt to say what is MSUV, pretty uncommon abbreviation.

I picked one up a few years ago on sale for $99, but, this was the old design. The lowest I've seen the new design selling for at HD is ~$160. At $139, I think it would be a good deal.

Miter Saw Utility Vehicle. It's a collapsible miter saw stand on wheels.

While it was designed for a miter saw, It can be used for other tools.
Well at least the older original MSUV can, as I have my Ridgid Planer bolted to it.

If the newer units are not able to be used for other items, please correct me.

            Thanks,
            Russ

I'm pretty sure you're correct. IIRC, the newer model has a slotted mount bracket so you don't have to drill your own holes. You can also slide the tool left or right as desired. The newer model appears to me to be a more versatile unit.

I retired my MSUV when the ms was mounted on its own table, and installed a 6 foot long piece of 12 inch wide roller conveyor that I fought with for a saw discharge table on its top. Now it will fold up and store in a corner and not fall every time I bump it like an old ironing board.

I have the StableMate Plus stand goes around $100.00 new. I mounted a plywd platform to the clamp mount then drilled holes for my MS & SMS base pattern, placed T-Nuts for each hole under the plywd platform. Now I can use the stand for both saws, makes it more versatile.

I think the new style was on sale for 99.95 last Black Friday, or during the Christmas season. I almost bought one for my tile saw to go on, but was saving for a new cabinet saw, so passed thinking it will be on sale again at that price in the future. Jim.

Got busy and didn't make it out there today. Maybe I will swing by HD on the way home tomorrow to check current pricing and rethink the deal.

About 6 months ago I bought the same mobile vehicle for my Ridgid dual compound mitre saw. Found it at Direct Tools here in Myrtle Beach, SC for $99.00 . They don't always have them in stock, but if you tell them you want it and give them your phone number, they will alert you when they order and it comes in. Great deal for the heavy monster that goes on it. I told them I would even pay in advance and they wouldn't allow that. I only did that after seeing the price of $169.00 at HD.
