My neighbor had one that he offered to me cheap. Be aware that it has four small diameter wheels (IIRC 5" or 6") that will make it harder to track straight and more likely to break blades due to the tighter turning radius of the wheels. Ironically, the same neighbor had a blade welder he was willing to throw in, which lends some credibility to the theory that this machine is more likely to break blades.

Wheels are 8" , but that is still small.

i think i 'd avoid that. The smallish wheels will cause a problem with blades and you'll always be off the mainstream for accessories and advice.

So the question remain what to do about a thread where the link in the OP goes away. Should at that point the thread go away also? Guess this is why there is the disclaimer that out of date posts will go poof.

Is this just a general question, or could you not get the link to work? I just tried it again & it is working.

I wouldn't think that the thread should necessarily go a way if there have been responses with pertinent info.

well, it wasn't working right after BW posted, but it is working now, again.

I think in general these links to eBay or Craigslist will generally go away after a short time (e.g. days or weeks) whereas posts here stay for years with broken links in them after the days or weeks.

I think BW is hinting at the fact that the original post had little searchable information other than a cryptic "this band saw" link. Had not other following posters included the name Du-er the post's historical worth would have been useless. But its hard to get posteres to post on this premise, usually they're trying to solve a problem in their mind and don't even publish enough info to clue in others completely.

Ideally for these posts to be historically useful (and who is to say they should be?) you should include information (because its more than just an e-mail) like:
" I'm looking at this Du-er bandsaw on craiglist. Looks like its old. Its unusual because of small wheels/large cutting width blah blah. Should I avoid this or jump on it for $75?. "
"Here's a link to the current ad: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

At least then someone searching for OLD Du-er bandsaw might stand a chance of locating this post.
