Ridgid Bandsaw + Drillpress on clearance

Stopped in a local H.D. today and the bandsaw was reduced to $184 and the drillpress to $160, lifetime guarantee on Ridgid tools getem before their all gone, Tommy

Mariette, Ga.Did not buy just noticed they were marked clearance, headed that way for most Ridgid tools for a while now, Granite top saw was $699, now $299 if you can find one, Jointer was $419, now $199 if you can find one and now the DP and Bandsaw finally, check around or ask your store mgr, might be regional but more than likely will come down in next few days.

Doubt that, More than likely clearing out old inventory for new models, besides they have a lifetime warranty, How they gonna get around that?

Possibly easier than one might think. That Limited Lifetime Service Agreement(not a lifetime warranty by the way) is actually offered by TTI, owner of Ryobi, Milwaukee, and others, who is licensed to make some of the Ridgid tools. TTI pays Emerson/Ridge Tool a fee to use the Ridgid name and does not make those tools for Ridgid. I don't know the legalese involved but if they were to give up that license and no longer manufacture the tools that are covered under the LLSA then who would one go to to have a broken tool fixed or dead battery replaced? Certainly not Emerson/Ridge Tool as they didn't make the product nor did they offer the LLSA either. I hope I'm wrong in assuming the LLSA coverage will go away if the licensing agreement between Emerson and TTI ceases to exist but maybe some lawyer here can chime in.

Actually your wrong sween, They are owned by One World Technologies out of Anderson, S.C., and they have an excellent record with the B.B.B. for the way they handle their warranty work, but they are a global co. owned and operated here in the U.S.A., while they are a subsidiery of TTI they own the rights to the Ridgid name,not TTI and the limlied warranty really only applys to corded tools such as routers,sanders etc. Most all of the heavier equipment such as the tablesaw,jointer,bandsaw etc have a broader limited lifetime warranty, gotta read all the fine print down there to understand it but its in there.

HD clears out the Ridgid stuff for new models from time to time. Remember when folks were posting on this board about the last time, when the gray models got replaced by the orange ones?

I've been in need of a drill press for a LONG time and have waited for an opportunity like this. JUST missed out on the Delta drill press that got clearanced at Lowes a few weeks back. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed on this one...

I remember seeing a new variation of the 14" bandsaw, so I was expecting them to clearance that.... The new one looks like the same frame, different style blade guards (more stop sign shaped), and an almost Harbor Freight looking stand with the motor in the stand below in the fashion HF and Delta have theirs... The R4511 was just released in 2009, but with the chatter I am seeing about the cracking granite table tops, I am not shocked to see the possibility of that being phased out, but in favor of what? The jointer is another good tool... What are they coming up with for that? I see a lot of stuff getting clearanced out but nothing coming in...

Sadly in Chicago area the lowest the jointer has been is $299, and that was only at a few stores for a week. No luck so far on the DP or BS.

The only salve to my store sore feet is that I picked up a Marples pull saw for $7 and a free set of replacement blades for my AP1300.

Double check the warranty if you go for a band saw. It only has
"Warranty (Parts) : 90-Day Satisfaction; 3 Yr Limited Service" according to web and I remember not being able to find the lifetime deal anywhere on the box when I was in the market for a BS. Ridgid does knock down the warranty for some tools (staple guns etc) so always make sure.

I've only checked the Monrovia HD so far and couldn't find the drill press. They did have a band saw in stock new in box but the sticker still showed the regular price. Really need to pick up a new drill press. Anyone else have any luck in southern cal? Planning to check a few more locations tomorrow.

Well, I stand by everything I said. Answer me this tommy, if TTI is the parent company of OWT how then can they not also own everything that OWT owns? Emerson Electric/Ridge Tool is the owner of the RIDGID trademark name and not OWT, TTI/OWT only rents it(licensee).

Here's my prediction (based on no facts, whatsoever):

Home Depot is the exclusive seller of Ridgid woodworking power tools. They don't want to waste space on stocking large woodworking power tools, so they are phasing them out. I predict that within a year or two, HD will no longer be selling large WW tools, Ridgid or otherwise.

I base this on the way they (HD) killed off the BT300x.

I may be wrong....we'll see.
