These are on clearance at Lowes, they've been replaced by the same machine with a Porter Cable sticker. My local store had only knocked $20 off the price so I left it, others may have a different experience.
I bought a JT-160 about two years ago. It works, and does a fair job,
but if I hadn't been in such a hurry, I could have had a MUCH better jointer from Craig's list. Don't waste your money on this machine.

Any recommendations on what is a good brand for a jointer? Craftsman? Ridgid? Thanks!
The problem here is if you have the room to dedicate to a heavier cast iron machine with longer infeed and outfeeds. I don't have an answer about which brands are the best, but I have seen (in Colorado, on CL) a few Ridgid, Jet and Craftsman floor models for less than I paid for the JT-160.
The issue isn't so much brand. There are very few bad jointers on the market these days. The issue is benchtop versus floor model. Many users do not like bench top models due to the much shorter infeed and outfeed tables, and many bench top units have cast aluminum tables instead of cast iron.
I myself own a Sunhill SM-150B which is a 6-1/8" bench top unit. Sunhill like certain other companies just rebrands others equipment. In this case Geetech, along with some minor design changes such as colors, and location / size of dust port. This jointer is also sold as the Craftsman 6-1/8" benchtop jointer. It has cast iron infeed and outfeed tables, and for a bench top unit has long tables, but it is still short compared to floor models...
If you are short of space and need a jointer, a bench top unit is a great bet, but if you have the luxury of floor space to burn then a floor model is your best choice.
There haven't been many of them recently as they seem to come in waves, but the Central Machinery 6" floor models often go for $100.00. It's basically a Chinese copy of an old Rockwell / Delta design, from the looks of it from the 50s, with a generic chinese box for a base... I see a lot of these out there, upgraded with Byrd and Sunhill cutter heads, or Carbide knives, and they make great jointers for the money... If you are patient though, and have the extra funds to burn, a well cared for Powermatic 8" pops up from time to time at a decent price...
