Ryobi and Ridgid Limited Time Friends and Family Discount

Just received an E-mail this afternoon from Ryobi concerning their "Friends and Family" discount for August. Check it out on the Ryobi web site, see bottom of page, just left of center, for the downloadable PDF coupon link:

The PDF doesn't say anything about Ridgid. Did your email mention Ridgid? Do you have a link to a ridig rebate form? Thanks.

You know, you're absolutely right... the current online form from the Ryobi website does NOT mention Ridgid.

I received the E-mail on Friday and in the e-mail form, it said to click on an offer to get more details... I did, and it gave me a downloaded PDF which looks like the current form, but has both the Ryobi and Ridgid logos on top of it and on the reverse states that it can be used for Ryobi and Ridgid power tools.

I posted this same notice over on the Ridgid site, now I'm wondering it the marketing group has made a mistake and it isn't supposed to include "Ridgid".

I'm going to call the Marketing Dept, on Monday and ask what's going on. If what I downloaded is a mistake, then that's fine I guess... but if not, I'll try to copy and post what I have to forum (can that be done?)

In any case, I do have a PDF stating Ryobi and Ridgid (so I'm not crazy), so I don't know why the online form has changed. I'll find out though!

      Thanks for questioning this,

That is an interesting marketing mistake you may have received but not suprising since Ryobi+Ridgid are somewhat related. Some HDs might be receptive to assisting you in obtaining 10% off a Ridgid purchase since the discount is readily available at HD during specials, credit card applications and competitor discounts like Lowes.

i called the tel no. on the reverse side of the coupon (800-525-2579) and the CS rep. confirmed that the rebate applies to both ryobi and ridgid, as specified on the original coupon. she both described and read the coupon to me and it matches the coupon posted above on 7/30/09. i told her the link, today, leads to a coupon that excludes ridgid and she confirmed that the offer does applies to ridgid. if someone else would contact them and maybe confirm this at another time through another CS rep., i suspect we would all feel a little more secure regarding the legitimacy of the offer.

So the CS Rep says it includes Ridgid and I go out and buy a boat load of Ridgid. Fill out the coupon, send it in, and it gets rejected even though the CS Rep said it included Ridgid. Sorry but if it isn't in writing I don't believe it.

I spoke to my contact at Ryobi tool marketing late this morning. As I understand it from our conversation, the original form that I downloaded (Ryobi and Ridgid) is a valid form that was linked to an e-mail sent to their customer database. But, as I understand it, that may have been a limited distribution because the Ridgid marketing group decided to do thier own, without combining it with the Ryobi name. The Ridgid rebate should be available "in a few days".

(At the time I received the e-mail on Friday, I immediatly clicked the link and downloaded the Ryobi and Ridgid rebate form. I then checked the Ryobi web site to make sure the "Friends and Family" rebate was available to all.... and with that confirmation I posted to the BT3 and the Ridgid forums. What is not clear at this point is whether there were differences at that time which I didn't notice. On quick glance the forms look the same, but I don't know if there were detail differences to begin with or whether the form was changed later in the day.)

So, the current download rebate form is for Ryobi tools (see the inclusions and exceptions details on the form) and "in a few days" the Ridgid rebate program should be published. They will be mailing that form to me when it's available, but I quite imagine it will be available off the Ridgid website at the same time.

              I hope this helps,

while i agree that written statements are preferrable, what's the real risk? tools can be returned to HD, even without the box, as long as there is a valid receipt or it was purchased with a credit card. return policy is 90 days, and the rebate should be completed in 4 to 6 weeks (45days), so even if the rebate were rejected, just return what was purchased. no harm, no foul.

You're absolutely correct, that is assuming they can process the rebate request within 90 days of the date of purchase.

FYI: there might be an issue when returning items to the store without the original UPC labels.

The rebate form states slightly conflicting information:

"Complete this form and mail along with the original receipt. Include original UPC(s) from the packages"

"COPY OF SALE RECEIPT AND UPC LABELS FROM EACH
QUALIFYING PURCHASE PACKAGE MUST ACCOMPANY REBATE FORM FOR PROOF OF PURCHASE"

i have never had a problem returning anything to the HD, provided i had either a) purchased the item with a credit card or b) had the original sales receipt. in the event a returns casher couldn't identify an item due to missing packaging, i usually buy another of the same item and return everything all at once, so the unpackaged item being returned is right next to am item in a package with a upc on it.

now doesn't that bear a striking resemblance to the originally linked rebate form in the original posting by csmith?

It should bear a very close resemblence as it was downloaded soon after the original posting before Ryobi changed it.

I guess Ryobi was playing "Beat The Clock" with us.

I Googled "Ridgid Friends and Family" and one of the hits was an .html file which has the Ryobi /Ridgid combination. However, when you click the .pdf version of the same ad, it shows only Ryobi. So this is as clear as mud
