I decided to order one. $6.99 for shipping. Total $17.85. But at I don't have to drive, closest store is over 45 minutes away. Would they have had the same price in the stores?Comment

The only downside to these units is that there is no auto-off. I've toasted more than one batter due to forgetfullness. Now, if I could just figure out who that woman is walking around inside my house...

My older model does not have the auto off feature but I believe GrantV has it correct, the newer models do come with that feature._________________________

the older ones don't have auto-off.
But I agree with JR, they do seem to go thru batteries quickly. OTOH, maybe because I use the eBay batteries or the hobby shop batteries on a card in bulk (alkaline LR44) for around maybe $0.20 apiece instead of the ones for $3.50 at Rat -Shack or Office Depot, maybe they don't last as long.
We're talking maybe 6 months, so its no biggie at $0.20.
I would assume the batteries that come with it aren't the 3.50 quality batteries but the .20 quality batteries, considering the unit sells for $10 and comes with 2 batteries.
