Oldham 6'' General Purpose Dado Set

I have no experience with this dado set or Oldham blades for that matter. In searching for deals I found that Rockler has a sale going on this dado set for 39.99, $100 off the regular price and wanted to get others opinions if this is a good dado set or not. If it was a Freud I'd be all over it but don't know about Oldham ....

    Oldham, or Oshlun?

Oldham is the cheap junk that Home Depot sells... I have a couple of Oldham circ saw blades. They toss the carbide going through 2x4 material pretty easy...

I have the Oshlun SDS-0630 Dado stack, and am very happy with it...

It's definitely Oldham. I'm not familiar with that set but Oldham does have a Signature series that's well regarded. I have no idea how good (or bad) this set is, but I'd think at $40 it's shold be at least as good as any at this price point. With that said, if it were me, I'd try to scrape together a few more bucks and go with the 6" Oshlun from Holbren for < $70 shipped with "BT310" discount code....more teeth, C4 carbide. Unfortunately, that's a ~ a 75% premium compared to the Oldham.

Thanks for the pointers on the Oshlun stacked set! I currently have an inexpensive dado blade and was looking to upgrade a bit, plus the one I have is 8" and its a bear just to get it in and out of the BT3

I replaced a cheapo POS Skil dado stack with my Oshlun. I was teetering between the Oshlun and the Freud... I don't regret the purchase...

Spuds - I just stumbled into this over at Woodnet. It's a new 6" Avenger set for $35....AFAIK, Avenger is now Oshlun and is the same as the $70 6" Oshlun set. It's been posted since 3/24...make a good offer.

              The same as Olshun??

              Knottscott -
Avenger has their own website and are still in business. The Avenger and the Olshun dados do look very similar. How do you know they are the same? Where did you hear that? I looked at the Avenger that you mentioned and the guy stated that he has had it for about a year and bought a Freud Dial-A-Width dado shortly after so he never got around to using it.
