Yes. Craigslist is a wonder sometime, a little rust? Looks like it went down with the Titanic.

great planer. It wouldn't take much to get that back up and in good shape.

Love the line "looks good some rust but that wont last long with use". Wonder how much wood you will have to waste to get rid of the rust.

Although it's been a long time ago, I worked for a company with a large woodworking shop. There was a fairly nice looking machine sitting outside the building starting to rust away. I ask the shop manager why . He said that (fill-in-the-blank) was a widow maker - and that was where it was going to die ! I think it was some kind of ripping saw!

Actually, IF you were to go check the thing out, and all parts moved freely, no excessive slop etc.. That machine looks restoreable. And much of that antique stuff will outlast and outwork a dozen modern machines.

The Parks is a great planer.. and there are those that delight in taking one in that shape and restoring it as they can do just that. I am just not one of those as I prefer to walk down to the shop and move dust around in lieu of rust.

But.. for some it is there thing and take great pride in doing so. I bet someone bites on that one. Just a guess....

If you look at the picture, you can see oil seepage around the top of the gear box. If the gears are still wet, chances are it would be a tear down, clean, and reassemble restoration.

Rust comes off easier then you'd think, and whats left beneath is often in much better shape then you would have imagined.
