Sale doesn't start until 3/1, but Woodcraft has 10 different profiles of their Woodriver brand router bits for $5 a piece. I bought all 10 for $50 last time they were on sale and am so far happy with the results I have gotten. They're not Whitesides by any means, but good usable bits nonetheless.

That is a good value for the bits, I also have gotten them and have been happy with the results. Often they will have 4 of them in a wooden box for $19.99, same price but a nice wooden bit box with them. My problem is the Woodcraft store is 5 hours away so it's only when driving by that I get to shop there. At least it's better than the 7+ hours to Rockler. Harbor Freight is close, only about 2 1/2 hours.

Bought 4 last time they were on sale and they seem to do a good job. Agree they are not Whitesides, but for $5 each, certainly good for jobs that require a lot of feet routered. Just put in a new one when the old gets dull.Joe

I've used a couple of these bits and found them very capable. Although the ones I've used have seen limited use, I've yet to dull one. They're definitely a bargain at $5._________________________

Where did you find these? Stopped by the store today and no bits were marked down or set aside. Can't seem to find these online, either....TheChief

These are decent for $5 each, and are convenient for me if I need one or two of the profiles they have. I wouldn't drive 5 hours for them...as has been mentioned, these are not the level of Whiteside or Infinity...more like MLCS, Holbren, Grizzly green, Woodline. Once you get into the range of grabbing several of the profiles, the price starts to creep to the point where a small basic set like an MLCS or Woodline might make more sense.Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

I bought a couple of these on Sunday. They had a couple that hadn't been included before. They have always worked fine for me and the price is definitely right. One of them was a 1/2" shank, 1/4" roundover.
I wanted a 1/4" shank 1/4" roundover for my Colt but bought the 1/2" because it works fine in my old PC 690. I asked about a 1/4" shank version. They had them, no problem, but they wanted $26.95 for it. I passed. The next time they have a sale on sets the set will probably be less than that. Meanwhile, of course, I'll have to do without. I'll never understand retail.Comment

In terms of quality what order would you place these Woodcraft bits, MLCS and Woodline? These are decent for $5 each, and are convenient for me if I need one or two of the profiles they have. Our local Woodcraft is over 30 miles away and shipping from them is $7 which drastically increases the bit price unless you buy several of the bits.

Performance quality is about equal IMO...too close to call. All are decent quality reasonable cost import bits made in Asia. MLCS and Woodline both have great CS. MLCS has free s/h. I'll choose the Woodcraft bits for convenience while I'm there, but wouldn't order a large quantity over the other two, and wouldn't pay s/h on them so that I could get them over the other two.In terms of quality what order would you place these Woodcraft bits, MLCS and Woodline?

one good thing about MLCS is that they haven't gotten so big that if you call their 800 number you'll likely speak to M, L, C, or S. They are all woodworkers IIRC and they know bits so you can get direct answers to any question and no nonsense response to any complaint and likely a free replacement bit set instantly if thats what it takes.

Wait...no automated system...no smart arses on the other end...no CS reps trying to upsell you...no CS reps taught that dollar comes first, customer second?one good thing about MLCS is that they haven't gotten so big that if you call their 800 number you'll likely speak to M, L, C, or S. What time portal did MLCS enter! Sounds great, thank you. Pretty much seals the deal right there.Comment
