Freud TK906 Avanti 10-Inch 50 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf $29.97

This seems to be a good price at Lowes, Amazon sells it for $5 more. Anybody have experience using this blade? Gets excellent reviews on the web.

The Avanti blades are on the lower end of Freud's line up as far as longevity is concerned. The number of sharpenings this blade will deliver will be far less than with one of their Industrial Series blades. That being the case, in the long run, the Avanti Series blades will end up costing more.

I like the Freud LU83R Thin Kerf Combination Blade myself. It is usually around $55, but it is kind of a hopped up version of the TK906. Just my opinion.
If you can read this you assembled wrong.

I had a Freud LU83R010 (that I got on Amazon some time ago in a pricing error for $9.95 shipped ) on my Bt3100 and it seemed to do a good job. Just wondering about the quality of this $30 blade.

According to Charles McCracken (aka Charles M) from Freud, the TK/Avanti and Diablo lines are made from the same materials on the same machinery as the comparable models from the Industrial line, meaning the TK906 should have some strong similarities to the LU83. The teeth are larger on the Industrial series, sometimes the anti-noise/anti-vibration slots are different, and the Industrial line offers a far more extensive assortment of task specific blades and a variety of kerf widths...the Avanti and Diablo are all thin kerf blades.

An LU84, which is the full kerf version of the LU83, was my first decent blade.

The carbide on the Avanti / Diablo blades is a bit smaller than the Industrial blades, but really shouldn't be much of an issue unless you have your blades sharpened every couple of weeks... The Avanti really seems to be just a rebadge of the Diablo line Home Depot sells from Freud. I have a Freud Diablo 40T that will give planer smooth cuts on the BT3100. I've run plenty of knots through it, but never gotten a nail or anything like that. So far still razor sharp. I think the lower end Freud blades are a real bargain, and well worth considering. Especially at $30.00, I can't get a 10" blade sharpened around here for that!

I have this blade in my saw now. I don't have a lot of experience with different blades but I've been happy with how it cuts red oak (haven't worked anything harder with it). Freud rates it as "Good" for most uses.
