altho its all metal ( a plus in a way) the Kreg K3 system has a lot going for it.
the clamp works fom the front, there's an effective dust collection feature, and some standalone portable jigs.
The magazine reviews I've seen in the past all rate the Kreg a run-away winner in convenience and ease of use as well as general overall polish of hardware and features.
OTOH, I'm sure the Pennstate jig will make pocket holes OK if you want to save money because the Kreg K3 system pack is $130-140 and seldom discounted.Last edited by LCHIEN; 01-26-2009, 05:18 PM.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

I havent used the Penn but would place another vote for the K3 Master system. I picked one up a few years ago and managed to use a rockler coupon to get it. Its a dream to use. With all the setup registration for both hole alignemned and the setting of the bit depth moulded into the jig even a "caveman" can do it.
$49 is a great price but I would have to ask myself why they are discounting it so heavily. I know from personal experience that I have bought supposedly cheaper tools only to get frustrated with them and then end up buying the better one later.Jon
