2 1/2 horse power, 1/4 and 1/2" collets, soft start, variable speed, fixed base has above table height adjustment... That's a **** of a deal! Checking the price on line, I didn't see any less than $200.

Plus, Lowes has free shipping on everything over $50 that worked for this. I just bought one.

That's an awesome deal, and an awesome table router. It has excellent above table features, including one handed above table bit changes.

I've had one for about 3-4 years now....no issues. I really like the above table features and tend to use it in my router table more often than the big Milwaukee, which is a fine router.

It is 249 on amazon, just got an email from peachtree saying it is half off at 125 (http://www.ptreeusa.com/edirect_121208.htm) , the reason I came to post. Then I see it at lowes. Don't need a router but am thinking about it. Maybe a re-design is coming and being closed out.

I have this router too and really like it. I was also able to pick up a Freud edge guide that has micro-adjust at woodcraft for ~$25 which was really nice.

Been thinking about a new router, would love to have 1/2 1/4 in collet. Gjat says it comes with both but I don't see that in the sale article. If it does not can the 1/4 be purchased at a resonable price?

I'm interested in getting my first router. I saw this on the Lowes site and came here to see what you all thought of it. Sure enough there was already a thread with reviews. It sounds like there have not been any issues or complaints.

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to wood working. Other than basic straight cuts and ripping on the Ryobi BT3100 I really haven't done much else.

May I ask a few questions regarding a/this router.

Will this particular model hook up to the BT3100 shelf without modification?

Now the fixed based is what gets fastened to the table correct...the router will not plunge but the bit height can be adjusted for each pass?

I have a little Rotozip. Can this be hooked onto the table shelf like a router would be?

Can you use a router like you would a Rotozip in which you could hook the router to the shelf and work the wood around the router bit cutting out designs and shapes in the wood?

                    Thank you!

Got the router today.... It seems really nice. It comes with a handle to adjust the bit height from above the table, dust port that mounts on the base to suck the shavings that fall down. It comes with 1/2" collet, and 1/4" reducer and a nice hard case. I'm looking forward to mounting it and seeing how it works.

(the case was sitting on the floor of the kitchen after I opened the box, my son 20 months, loved climbing on the case and playing with the empty box. Can't wait until Christmas)

I am not sure about the rotozip part of it as I haven't tried that. But I will answer what I can of your questions.

AS to the base, I am not sure if the plate that comes will fit directly with the Freud router, but if you are careful you can mark and drill holes to fit. I had to do that for one of my routers. Once mounted onto the plate, the plate will fit normally.

Shelf - not sure what you mean exactly, but I have a router mounted in a table and run wood around that. With an overhead pin, reasonable cuts can designs and shapes can be achieved, I think.

Anyone else want to add more accurate information?

This is too good to pass-up! I just ordered one.

Now, to get it mounted in my BT3100.

There seems to be enough info on this BB to do the job.
