I also picked one up. Hoping the bigger contained means I won't have to empty as often.

I picked one up for my father's birthday which happens to be today. It is a great vac, but only has a 1.25 hose.

...which was a huge disappointment. Since wanted a bigger contained that wouldn't need to be emptied as often, this one is useless. It's goin' back.

Usually they have a small hose but a large (and standard) connector... Should be able to buy for under $15 (yeah for a $30 vac) a 2.5" hose that fits...

              From WoodNet

"I purchased this shop vac today at what seemed like an exceptional $60 savings. I realized later that it was nothing of the sort. Their regular 14 gal shop vac is model 90L550A, has an 11.5 amp motor, and is indeed priced everyday at $90. The machine sold on black Friday for $30 is model 85L450 and only has an 8 amp motor. It even came with an 1 1/4 inch hose rather than the bigger hose that normally comes with higher capacity machines. Basically, they dressed up a lower powered/lower priced shop vac to make it look like something it wasn't. Lowes even went so far as to put the black Friday model in their system as a $90 item. I'm returning mine and will complain to our state attorney general. The problem is that they intentionally set out to confuse customers. My receipt even claims a $60 savings as did the sign in the stores."

FWIW, I would take a good look at this vacuum before I bought it.

The 2.5 inch hose is $19.97. The same vacuum with 2.5 inch accessories and hoses and a somewhat more powerful 11.5 amp motor instead of an 8 amp motor is $94.97. If you need a big shop vac for tools, it's still a good deal even if you have to buy a second hose at about half off the regular price.

I turns out I have the 12 gallon Ridgid that was featured last year on Black Friday so a 14 gallon vac won't be that much help.

My local Lowes was one of the few places I ventured out to this morning, seeing that my old Sears wet/dry vac is about to give up the ghost, and what do you think.....the last one of these went out the door about 15 minutes earlier.

The associate apologized, checked with the manager to make sure there were no more in the back (there weren't), and then said.....

"Tell you what. This one here is about the same price (Item#236625), take it and I'll have the cashier ring it up for $29 like the original."

I started to mention that it didn't have the extra filter cartridge, but saw that it was a bigger motor (5.5hp & 11.5 amps) and had the 2.5" hose, so I took it and ran. A new $10 off $50 voucher on my register tape made the whole trip worthwhile. Not such a Black Friday after all.
