Decided to go for it when the OP posted the code here. It showed out of stock but I ordered 4 anyway. Yeah I know only two were allowed.

Got an email this morning that they updated my order to only get two. I guess we'll see...

Since it said sets I figured 2 per set so ordered 4 of each. In effect 5.98 and 7.98 per set. Figured all they could say was no. So, ignorance is bliss.

Curiously, though, they don't seem to have refunded my PayPal payment. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until after this holiday weekend...

Since it said sets I figured 2 per set so ordered 4 of each. In effect 5.98 and 7.98 per set.

Using exactly the same logic, I order two SETS, for a total of four CLAMPS, of the 36" size (all that was left by the time I got there). Yesterday my order status said Qty: 4 was Backordered. Today it says Qty:2 is In Process.

The way the listing was worded, any reasonable person would have assumed a set consisted of two clamps and that each customer could order up to two sets, or four clamps, in each size. Now it appears they may be changing the rules in midstream -- something Rockler unfortunately has a long history of doing. I really don't even need the clamps but it's the principle of the thing. If I get only two clamps, this will be my last order, EVER, from Rockler.

This morning my order status was still "backordered" but had been updated with a comment "Expected 12/09/08"...

Maybe there is still hope? Talk about a mixed message, first it was "while supplies last" and now "backordered".

It seems pretty clear they got really tangled up in their underwear on this one!

I actually ordered 6 of the 36" and 4 of the 6" on Saturday, they were all delivered yesterday afternoon. I didn't even notice the limit when I placed the order as I adjusted the quantity in the cart.

I ordered 4 of the 36" clamps and also 4 double headed clamps (which were 50% off) on Monday afternoon (along w/ a few other things). My order status says that it is complete and everything has shipped.

Funny thing, the "order id" in the email order confirmation is different than the order number shown in the order status screen. Makes you wonder how effective their back office operations are...

I am glad I got in early.
I ordered 4 of each and they were shipped and should be here any day.
I think Rockler is great, good deal and fast shipping.
I am guessing they were trying to deplete their inventory and the orders came in so fast they ran out and some people missed out.

The really sad thing about this special is that it made several of the "hot deal" websites. No doubt those postings led to a frenzy and contributed to the out of stock situation for woodworkers. Some morons on the "hot deal" sites actually posted that they ordered the clamps although they didn't even know what they are used for. DUH!?

BTW...I contacted Rockler CS. The good news is that my order has shipped (they gave me a tracking number but it has not been picked up by UPS yet). The not-so-good news is that my quantity was reduced to 2 clamps per size.

Still a good deal, but according to the CS rep I chatted with said, "when the information came down from corporate we were told only 2 sets per order and a set means 1 clamp."

This is certainly out of the control of the CS rep, but I asked where to lodge a complaint since the site clearly says "limit 2 sets" and common definition of a "set" is 2. Also, I've never heard of a clamp referred-to as a "set".

As a previous post said, Rockler is changing the rules/definition mid-stream. It seems they decided to do this to stretch their supply so that more customers could be accomodated with 2 clamps at the sale price.
