Task Force 10" CMS w Laser $69 at Lowes

Not sure if this is available everywhere but the local Lowes had three in-box Task Force 10" CMS with Laser marked down to $69. Lowes at Gunbarrel in Chattanooga.

I bought a taskforce 10" sliding miter saw last year and the fence was bent. If you held a straight edge up to it, it was bowed inward in the middle. I then took it back, checked the floor model and it was bowed as well. I bought a Kobalt instead, same price. The Kobalt works great, even though many of the castings and such are the same as the taskforce. Better fence though.

For this one, I'd say check it out, if things look good then that is a great price.

I'm betting good money it will, but here's a possible solution. Attach a new board to the fence, tighten the board down well to the fence and make sure the fasteners are coutersunk in the front. Make a cut through the board with the saw.
You will now have a wooden sub-fence that is also bent the same as the metal fence. Now run that board over a jointer with a few light passes until flat.
Now you have a flat fence that has a zero clearence kerf cut. It's a two-fer

I suppose the TaskForce Sliding Compound Miter saw SCMS that everyone is knocking for the bent fence is NOT the same saw as the OP mentioned on sale, a TF CMS.

Is anyone implying that the TF CMS will have this problem too?
if you get one, check the fence?

Never Mind, its an old thread!
