    High-end 3-D Modeling Software

I gave a few thoughts to this before I posted it, but I do know many of you really enjoy illustrating some of your projects and maybe even some of your dream projects.

I received notice on Friday that Caligari is, for the first time, offering their flagship product "TrueSpace 7.5" for free as a download. Included in the offer was their manual in PDF format as well as a series of instructional videos.

As I recall, trueSpace 7 was offered as a $550 commercial 3D illustration/modeling product and, as I understand, it was quite popular. TrueSpace 7.6 has several enhancements over that earlier product. Caligari has been around for a number of years and is one fo the market leaders in 3D software with sevaral awards to its credit.

This is not a program for the faint-hearted as it is very sophisticated and has a long learning curve. But the resulting work is spectacular, including everything from architectural illustration to science-fiction type artwork and it includes a very robust animation system too.

So, for those of you who are adventurous, check out www.caligari.com . Registration will be required in order for you to download, but there is no cost involved. I downloaded it yesterday and on RoadRunner it takes about a half hour or so for everything.

There's nothing like a picture, especially when you're designing something yourself.

When it comes to drawing, I'm hopeless.

Tried TS several years ago (maybe version 4) and the learning curve is steep, but the results are outstanding. Hopefully the video will help ;•)

          Software Version???

They are promoting 7.6 as the "free" download, which usually means a trial period. Where do you find the 7.5 free version? Thanks for the tip!!
