Yeah, good point. This product comes up on sale periodically, but I don't think it qualifies as a HF gem. The most direct comparison is with the old Ryobi OSS, which was list price $100. That product is no longer available, but set the benchmark for OSSs due its larger table.

I sprang for the Ridgid, liking its versatility, which has proven out. In fact I use it almost exclusively in belt mode, using the spindles only on projects which specifically require them.

FWIW - I got a $10 off coupon at HD last week, good for purchases over $75. I know that puts the Ridgid at $190, far above the HF unit, but there it is.

I am ordering my EB4424 this Friday. I am not so sure I will use the spindle that much. Belts are easier to deal with IMHO, as far as sanding larger pieces, and it appears that the smaller diameter roller for the belt is sufficient for tight radius curves...
