MBG- Why is the brake important? I guess I've never been concerned about spin down time, but it seems like a bunch of people here feel that it's a must-have feature...

First of all it's important for safety. In my case I'm using the saw on an aluminum guide rail system that has a replaceable plastic edge to provide zero clearance with the blade. If I move the saw with the blade moving it will damage the anti-chip edge.
