Rigid 18v Drill and Impact Driver

I just got back from HD and was there to buy a Rigid Impact driver and stumbled on this deal:

18v Drill & Impact with 2 batteries, charger, and man purse for $179, something like 45% savings, but they have their power buy thing going on and it ended up costing $157 after MI sales tax.

Unfortunately they dont list the kits online and its only at select HD's. Hope someone can benefit...

1.3aH batteries NiCad though. Run time is short. Ridgid is unloading old batteries in these kits.

why is it better than this Craftsman 19.2V drill and impact driver set currently $120, I bought mine last year for $99? comes with 2 batts and charger. A lot cheaper.
I don't find name brand new or recon items at HF much of a bargain...

Its a deal for me cuz I run all Rigid tools at work, and I didnt really need the charger or drill, or batteries for that matter. The rigid impact alone at the borg is $119 with nothing else (charger or batteries), with this deal I just sold the drill, charger, one battery and the bag for $85 on craigslist. Essentially, I got the impact with a battery for the price of one battery. Now I have 9 batteries

Looking at the specs of the craftsman, thats pretty impressive for the price. How is battery life on those?

            Loring,

I went through 2 18v Craftsman kits (drill, saw & light) in 3 years. I've had my 18v Ridgid kit for around 3 years and have yet to have anything fail. I was using my 18v Ridgid circsaw for numerous large framing projects and even that didn't kill any batteries. I'll recommend Ridgid any day of the week over Craftsman rebrands.

Just another testimonial. I've this unit for three years and have not had a short run time issue at all. The biggest issue, also noted in a test or two, is the weight. It is a brute and not well suited to 'dainty' tasks although, I do use it for *everything*. No sorrow here.

Ridgid is solid. I love it. Plus they have a lifetime warranty which rocks.

Got a SKU for the Ridgid set?

I'd love to pick up one of the Ridgid sets, but HD is a bit out of the way for me. I'd like to call to see if they are available or not...

                  Thanks

The weight is to help you excerise while you work

This lifetime warranty DOES include the batteries too.

I've had this tool for a little over a year now and I actually like it better than my 24V Bosch.

I don't have the sku, but I do have the upc or at least the number on the receipt:

                        648846054483

                        Hope that helps.

I actually got to use the impact a little bit at work today hanging some duct work and it will put it sheetmetal screws faster than anything i've used. The whole reason why I wanted one was for the compact size and the crazy fast rpms. I don't really have a use for the actual impact driving in day to day use. But I also put in about a dozen 4" galvanized screws just cuz I could. I probably put in 600 1/2" self tapping sheetmetal screws today on a single charge and there is still alot of life in the battery.

And to anyoe wanting to use the lifetime warranty on the batteries, make sure to register the tool and batteries. And the fact that the new Li-ion batteries can be used in the Nicad tools is a really nice feature. Now if I can just figure out a way to finaggle some li-ion batteries
