25 bucks and qualifies for free shipping. Not sure of the quality but some hearing protection for the shop.

I looked at the specs on some of the optional ones listed. All seem to have 22db reduction. Not much info on the tuner. Analog tuning w/o asome kind of frequency lock could be a pain when it wanders off station. About the only difference in more expensive models is the addition of input jacks for MP3 players.

I'd expect with my griffin iTrip, i can just tune it to a
"dead" station and pipe in my itunes.

good point, why be the tethered to a MP3 player (even if its in your pocket) while woodworking, having the cord dangle when you can use the FM transmitter and be unfettered.

All I can say is RATS!! I had a $40 amazon voucher to spend and was looking for a good bargin to use it. Unfortunatley I already did. These would have been cool. I always have the radio on loud when I am wood working but the tools drown it out and even more so when I wear ear defenders. This might have been a good idea. I guess I could just spend the $25......

Anybody got a pair? How do they work?

I have the racetunes version of that headset which has an input jack. the tuner isn't great and is very sensitive to the slightest movement of the knob making is a little hard to tune, there are no reference numbers either. It doesn't seem to drift and the knob is designed well enough that you don't bump it out of tune.It still beats the heck out of hearing nothing. I bought it for running a tractor all day, the time goes by much faster. Another benefit is you don't have the shop radio blaring so that you can hear it over your machines. they are also very comfortable to wear all day and dampen outside noise very well.

if you had a very small Mp3 player you could attach it to the head band with a short cord and you'd never know it was there.

$25 for any 22dB ear defenders is a good price, the radio is just a bonus.

              Thanks!

Finally a Bargain Alert that I needed when I needed it. I was just looking at hearing protection yesterday. I don't like sticking things into my ears, and everything under $50 looked cheap. I was about to head to HF just get their cheap ones just to have something.

I agree with Tom, the radio is just a bonus. I'm not worried if it doesn't work well, or at all.

I received mine and I am very impressed. The radio part is just a bonus for me, and I would not have cared if it didn't work, but so far the reception is pretty good.

The fit and noise reduction is pretty good, much better than the cheap HF model that I was using before they had an accelerated fall to the floor.
