Forrest WWII 30T: $49, $56, $65 shipped

Amazon's got really good prices on these Forrest WWII 30T blades. The 8" or 9" is a great way to get a WWII on the cheap, and the 10" is a great price too. My 10" 30T TK WWII rips nearly as easily as a good 24T ripper and cuts nearly as cleanly as my 40T...extremely versatile blade in hardwoods, and is good in ply too.

Those are great deals, and I know I'll be kicking myself for not jumping on them.

As much as I've lusted for a WWII, I have a decent Freud ripper and my monthly budget is pretty much already blown.

i already own 2, a 10" 40T FK and similar TK 10", the latter I bought on sale last year for $65.

Do I need some more? I don't have 3 table saws like some guys here.

Other than cutting height I don't think there would be much difference.

Tough for me to predict....I've never compared an identical 8" to a 10" directly. I'd guess the results of the 8" would be fairly similar to the 30T and 40T 10", but would act like more teeth than the 30T ...probably somewhere between the two, just not sure where. The teeth of the 8" will have a different attack angle due the smaller circumference, which changes a few aspects. I just don't know to what degree they'll impact cut, if at all. It'd probably behave similarly to having a steeper hook, or at least mimic the 10" at a different blade height.

I'd guess the 9" is closer to the performance of the 10" than the 8" is.

Assuming the rotational rate is the same which it more or less would be for the same saw, then the number of cuts per second would be lower and hence the quality would go down, I think, as well as lowering your maximum feed rate. and wearing out the blade faster (fewer teeth doing the same amount of cutting) on a job basis.

If its a smaller kerf, then you get some benefit of lowered feed effort/material removed but it doesn't mitigate the above effects.

As dustmight says, the angles of attack will vary somewhat at different parts of the blade relative to the table surface, but that's going to be harder to predict the effect of.

However if you scale the wood, then the geometry and relative work stays about the same. You'll have to make 25" high tables and such...
