    Woodcraft 10% sale

Anyone taking advantage of the sale this weekend? and I think they have an extra 5% for early birds. I was looking at picking up a Jet Lathe maybe with the $25 MIR.

I'll be there. Note that, although the 10% off does apply to power tools (like your lathe), the additional 5% Early Bird does not.

Think hand tools are OK. The fine print on the flyer explains in considerable detail.

I bought a sharpening jig, Veritas MK II. I have a hard time getting the edge of my chisels perpendicular to the sides.
Thanks for the clarification on the earlybird special. I really want to get the Rikon 14" deluxe bandsaw but am not able to buy it yet. I can likely get 10% off in the future but I thought I was missing out on 15%.

I like that Veritas jig... Used one all the time before the Tormek fell into my lap. I think you will like the Rikon saw. Hardly a day goes by that I don't use mine for something or other. Cuts wood like buttah...

Thanks for the feedback. I struggled spending $50 for a jig, but I have a $10-15 one that gives me results I can get free hand. Quick set up, good results.
About the Rikon, are you satisfied with the power? I don't think I'd do a lot of resawing but this saw seems to be too good to be true. With 13" of resaw capacity, do you find it flexes much?

I have not tried to go all the way to 13" on the resaw, but have done 8" a couple times, with a good 4 TPI resaw blade. Kept the feed rate under control, and went right through. The 1-1/2 HP motor is bigger than on most 14" saws, so I don't expect there would be any limitations not found on its competition as well. Don't think I'd wanna push my luck with wet wood, though...
