    truth in advertising

    Can't say I expect to believe every claim from a classified ad but I agree this smells.
    You would think with the big laguna logo painted on the machine they would have gotten some kind on written agreement from the buyer or at least permanently marked the saw with a disclaimer to prevent any negative reflection back on the brand name. Most manufacturers would destroy such trial models, give them to employees, or keep them in storage. Could you see someone reselling a Ford test car on craigslist?
