    HD giftcard work at Lowes?

I received the $50 gift certfiicate for chrismas, but Lowes is very near the house.

Anyone know if the Lowes accept the certificate?

    thanks,

No, that will not work. Coupons will be matched but Gift Card $$$ is put in the Bank and the store gets paid when its redemed..
Every tool you own is broken, you just don't know it yet :-)

I doubt it as they are more like cash rather than a coupon.

Something the I discovered by accident.... I bought some stuff at a store with a gift card and cash, as the gift card didn't cover the whole purchase. I later returned part of the purchase and got all cash back. More cash than I originally paid. This may be one way to convert "store credit" into cash. Just a thought.
If you can read this you assembled wrong.

I think that the stores keep the cash all along, but they get to recognize the revenue at redemption. Otherwise carried as a liability...

The amount that your gift card is worth is stored at the main office NOT on the card. There is no way Lowe's and Home Depot would share the info.

Think about it, lets say you buy a $25 gift card a Home Depot, then you buy a $25 item at Lowe's. You think Home Depot will gives Lowe's $25 for an item you purchased there (there competition)?!!!

I don't know... I tried to get Sears to take my blockbuster card and they said no. YMMV.

              More importantly... where's the deal?

It would be like writing a check to lowes and trying to pay your Home Depot bill with it. It actually would be worse since the money for the certificate has alredy been given to the store that the certificate came from.

that $50 HD certificate/gift card and a $50 bill will buy you $50 worth of Lowes' finest merchandise, I'm sure.

HD received the money, but you're asking if Lowes will supply the merchandise from their pocket....won't work...

                      (and she's dead, believe me!)

If necessary you can sell your HD card on eBay and get about 90 to 95 cents on the dollar. You could also buy a Lowes card for about the same discount, so you'd come out about even (less sellers fees).

I think there is a site called Gift Card Exchange, or something like that, where people trade gift cards.
