    BT3000 on Detroit Craigslist

There is a BT3000 posted for $100, down from $150 yesterday

    http://detroit.craigslist.org/tls/513174617.html

I am tempted, but I need heat in the shop more so than a second BT.

No affiliation, just saw the posting and passing it on.

Fully loaded it will provide 1800 Watts of heat to the shop. The rest of the time it can also function as a table saw. Two birds, one stone. At $100 not much more than a heater alone.

I hope it's still available - I just emailed him with my phone number... For $100 - it's a no brainer right?

Is there a comparison of the BT3's somewhere on this site?

I've never owned one - I have a Bosch 4000 saw that stays in my tool trailer all of the time, but could use one for the basement. Plus - this one comes with what seems like a lot of accessories.

          Yes, at that price it's a no-brainer.

Forum member lchien has a FAQ that will tell you everything you'll ever need to know, plus some other stuff.

Yeah, that one has a nice set of accessories. The wide table kit with downdraft table is kind of rare. A nice find!

Well, just picked up the saw. It's a 96, made in USA - 15amp.

                Has with it:
                Saw
                Fence
                crosscut sled w/bar
                VHS BT video
                miter slot kit
                router kit
                dado insert
                (2) zero clearance inserts
                extended rail kit
                leg kit for above
                air floatation table
                extended miter bar/fence extension kit
                clamp
                wheels.

Plus, it came with all of the manuals for everything included, along with the Frued 36 tooth blade, which seems to be in good shape.

Not too bad for $100, huh? I could part it out and make about $250 from it maybe, but I bought it to use, so I'll take it apart and put it back together so as to get it fresh to go.

                Very clean, very good shape.

Yeah, that's worth at least a mini YOU SUCK.

Those zero clearance throat plates are the subject of some derision. the plastic is a bit flimsy, but the worse problem is that they don't sit flush with the surface. I found that if I glued a little strip of playing card to the edges it trued up nicely.

Oh, and if the "wheels" are the OEM casters, those are just about useless. The require the operator to lift the whole saw from the opposite end. The operation more or less demands lifting by the rails, which is a risky proposition. If you need mobility, some sort of mobile base would be best.

                  Enjoy!

no that requires a large YOU SUCK

I mounted a couple of U bolts to the frame of the base and slide 3/4 conduit into them. Makes it a lot easier to move around and you don't touch the rails.

you got a great deal, the wide table and leg kit and the air flotation table has to at least double the value of the saw.

First thing I'd do: put some wax or dry lube on the shim area and the elevation screw area. Work it up and down and lube again where it was hidden the first time.
