Bosch 1297DK 1/4 sheet sander $39 at BORG

Picked this up at Home Depot Saturday for $39 ($58.93 at Amazon). Seemed like a good deal. Didnt think I needed this type of sander until it came to the corners of recessed panel doors I just did.

Gary I bought this one last month at my local HD for the same money. It is a nice sander, the dust collector works. I like the idea of not having to buy special sandpaper, it is good. Bill

I like this sander. It has a nice even finish, is well balanced and easy to control Dust collection is pretty good even though the filter tends clog up unless you clean pretty often. If you buy the vacuum adapter then dust collection is very good.

(Rant: The vacuum adapter is only about $4, but it isn't included, and I don't know of a local place to pick one up. My ROS and finish sanders are Bosch, but why can't they include the vac adapter?)

One of the best features on this sander in my opinion is paper installation. Very quick and easy. Most of the 1/4 sheet sanders you have to lift a lever on each end of the sander, fold the paper around the first pad edge, clamp the lever, fold the paper around the other end, try to hold the paper tight, and clamp that lever. On this sander, you push a button on the front, slide the paper in, lift the lever for the back clamp, slide the paper under the lever (no need to fold it up around the pad since it is on the bottom) lock the clamp lever which causes the clamp to automatically tighten the paper. Takes longer to describe than do.
