I own the 23ga pin nailer and the metal detector. Both work very well for what they are. Don't know much about the thermometer or that multimeter but I haven't seen very many positive things said about the dovetail machine.

We use infrared thermometers in our restaurant's kitchen. Very sanitary and accurate ... providing we stir the soup immediatly before checking temp. That's because they are measuring the surface temp, not internal. Stirring gets us an average internal.

turns out the thermometer is limited in two ways over the "pistol" type IR thermometers commonly found.

One, its limited to 110C or around 235F which is good for measuring cooking liquids but not to checking your oven temerature. My pistol-type IR thermometer measures to I think at least 500 degrees.

The other problem is that its acceptance angle is shown as 1:1 which means I think that at a one foot distance the measuring area is a rather wide 1 foot. Again, my pistol IR thermometer has like a 10 degree acceptance angle (and a laser aimig device), I can check a spot temperature around a foot wide from ten feet away.

i did get at the store this weekend a couple of dial gauges for $7 ea. an OBD II reader (car diagnostic) listed at $120 on sale retail store for $85 but I brought the on-line printout showing $64. A 25" 1/2" drive breaker bar for $7.99.

              HF Lathe?

Does anyone have experience with the HF Wood lathe model 340706?
Some claim that it is the same as the Jet JWL-1236 and is on sale for $199 from $279.
I'm looking for first hand experience.

I have it and like it.
Measure twice, cut once, screw it up, start over

thanks for the fast response guys.
I'm going to see if they have one in the store. The only model I'ce seen is the $140 model that has boxed tubing, which was not interesting at all.

Do not buy the HF dovetail fixture! The settings change every time you put in a new board. I bought the unit on a previous sale and set it up to use it last week. The unit I have has some very good points such as a very heavy steel base, the comb is a nice thick aluminum piece and the holding brackets seem strong enough. But, everything gets screwed up when you loosen the hold down bracket to insert a new top board. The comb moves front to back as the upper bracket wobbles back and forth. I immediately went to Woodcraft and bought the Porter-Cable 4210 which was on sale and there was a further 10% discount last Saturday. Wow, what a difference. The units look similar, but set up is easy and stays put when you put in new boards.
