    Craftsman 17511 Router - $17.97

Stopped by my local Sears and found this router on the clearance table.

It's a 9 amp (1.75 HP) variable speed fixed-base model. I don't know anything about the quality, but the original price was $90, so I figured for 18 bucks I couldn't go too far wrong. I've already got a very nice P-C plunge/fixed kit, so this won't be my primary router.

Anybody know anything about this router? Good/bad/okay?

I like how you just happened to have that handy in your back pocket!

Looks like the perfect candidate for permanent dovetail setup.

          craftsman 17511 router?

I have one of those routers that is not variable speed, it was $59.00 on sale a couple of years ago. It does....ok, for handheld routing....but ain't worth 02 for table routing. It won't hold it's adjustment when mounted upside down
in a router table, it does either one of these two things, the adjustment
lock mechanism on the back side continually pops open and causes the router to drop down, or it is a bear to get adjusted because of the cheap, sorry lock ring adjuster just starts binding up and doesn't want to turn smoothly as it should. I have tried every way I can to correct both problems
but nothing I do seems to make any difference for very long. So, now it sits on the shelf, my Dewalt 616 is the primary router for table work, plunge routing and freehand work....it never fails! eezlock
