JET Remote Control for 115V DCs, $35

Amazon has the Jet 708650 Remote Control Unit For 115 Volt Dust Collectors on sale for $35. Kind of lacking in technical details, but not a bad price for a remote control.

Kind of curious that on the same page Amazon shows this together with the Jet switch:http://www.amazon.com/PSI-Woodworkin...618766-3707359

Makes me wonder if it really does come with a remote control?

I saw that and thought it was an odd combination. Even if the remote was sold separately, why would you buy the Long Ranger switch? The only thing the Jet remote would be useful for in that case is the timer.

Ordered it an hour ago. The description says ". Has the remote with the on/off and a timer to set unit from 1 up to 99 minutes of operation."

So, hoping otherwise I will return and get the PSI one.

Got the unit in during Lunch, and it has a remote. The remote will turn the unit on/off and has a timer function, Installed it this afternoon and works great with my HFDC

                  Controller, not working????

                  Hi,
I got mine today but when I turn on the switch with my Delta DC connected, it trips the breaker out, even with 20amp outlet. Did anybody have similar experience? Defective unit?? I contacted Amazon but they do not have any in inventory so they cannot replace it. I would like to keep it if there is a way to fix the problem. Can anybody help me?
                  Thanks!!

The first thing to do is to see if it's load related... or if the switch itself is presenting a short to your AC outlet.

Try plugging a 100W lamp into the remote switch and see if the breaker still pops. This will tell you if the switch works or has a gross internal short.

Does the DC plugged into the wall itself blow the breaker when you turn on the DC? I wouldn't think the extra load of the switch should trip the breaker if the DC by itself does not.

                      Still trips breaker...

I tested the unit with a small light connected or without anything connected. It tripped breaker in either way. Seems like a defective unit. It's a pity. It is a well-built unit if it works.

You might open it up and see if anything is shorting out inside. Or maybe they got a wire swapped. Are you good at using a meter? Did you get a wiring schematic with the unit?

Unfortunately, the unit did not come with a wiring shematic. I will open it and check if there is an obvious problem that is causing the short circuit. If it is not really obvious, fixing the unit would be beyond my ability.
Will be busy today and tomorrow so I gonna try it on Sunday afternoon.
                              Thank you for your suggestion.
