Herc-U-Lift Plus $.01 at Home Depot

I know many landed a Ridgid herc-u-lift deal at $29 (marked down from $49) and then there was that mile long thread of those that got them on clearance for $14.99. Well now they're a penny if you can find one.

I was strolling through the borg last night and spotted two on the shelf with a bunch of other "old" ridgid badged items. I asked the apron where did this stuff come from and he said the stores got word to scour the stock and put out whatever should have been sold last year. (You would think that would be a no-brainer but I guess they need to be told this?) They need to make room for fall promotions (i.e. new Ryobi lithium display, new Ridgid MSUV, new BT21 etc...) No price displayed on anything. Took one to the register for a price check...$.01. Sold. Went back and got the other one. Hit the other borg a few miles away and found a third there. I can definitely put two to use. The third just became my brothers X-mas gift . He's worth a penny The girl at the register did a double take and did tell me they've been noted in the system as "Clearance item - Fianal Sale - No return" Fine by me.

I also noticed the marked down the Ryobi cutoff saw ( i think it's 14"). The one where you can throw either a masonary blade or a metal cutting blade on it. They had those marked down to $89 from $149.

Cordless Ryobi hand planers were $19 in another "clearance" section yet they had them at regular price on the display. Also a table full of display or used tools marked "take an additional 25%" off. They were in such sad shape that they would have to be 80% off before I would bite.

There was also two Bt3100 accessory kits but, again, no price posted.

Don't know if this is national. YMMV.

    Good luck,
    Greg

Given what happened to the accessory kits, these things are probably due to be trashed if they don't sell soon. I would guess that anyone interested should hurry and check it before these things are destroyed.

This will never happen at my HD. The manager here takes at most 20% of the most gawdawful junk and just hangs on to it.

Honestly, I got the impression that it was changed in the system so if any ring up anywhere , they'll come up for a penny. Again, can't confirm, but the way she said it gave me that impression.

Now, on the otherhand, the markdown on the display models and used looking stuff, appears to be up to the individual manager. For example, they had 25 sheets of Sheetrock brand drywall on one of those flat carts. I would say half had damaged corners. I didn't care because they'' be for my basement remodel and I have 7' ceilings so I could sacrifice that last foot. No price. The apron got the manager, who paused, looked at the reg price of $12 a sheet and said gimmie a dollar a sheet. $25 instead of $300? Sold. A no brainer.... Seems like they have quite a bit of discretion.

I just went to the BORG and had the worst experience of returning a ladder which was still brand new. It took me 1/2 hour to return it. That special order services crap is annoying. I am going to lodge a customer service complaint. Nowadays, theses special order reps keep dogging us. The service is getting worse and worse.

Management does have the leeway to change the prices. It's just up to who you get, and what side of the bed they got up on. As for mid-Florida, there are no Herculifts at any of the ten HD's I called. In fact, they've been gone for so long, I had to 'splain to several tool dept. folks exactly what they were. The numbers off the receipt don't even appear in their computers.

                        Unc,

Rule number one of bargain hunting is Never Call The Store. No offense, but if I worked there and you called and had me check for something that I saw was marked down from $50 to a penny, I'd tell you we're out of them and I'd be on the phone with my buddy to come get whatever was in stock Call me greedy and dishonest, but don't call me dumb!

On a serious note, there's a 99% chance that they are out of them, but it's a non-inventoried item. I don't think it will come up as in stock anywhere. You would literally have to find it for them at the store. Like I said, I stumbled upon them as a result of them making room for some new promotional stock. There was other NOS items as I had mentioned in the orignal post that I have no use for. It's like they decided to clear out the crap that had accumulated under the bed. I'm assuming all stores will be doing this. Just my $.02. Good luck.

EDIT: I just checked Ebay. There are 14 Herc-U-Lifts that were just posted today in the mid-Florida area. Just kidding Cracker

I know it was a joke, but I checked ebay anyway and my jaw hit the floor. It hope it isn't folks from this list that pay that much for one of these. One example of a completed sale (with 19! bidders):
                          http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=120148852657

I have four NIB from the $14.99 clearance awhile back, and, though tempted, I'm gonna use them, not sell them on ebay for a profit.

Finding these deals are as much luck as effort.

Strolling through Sears before close on a friday night a while back, they had 3 old dusty boxes by the door marked "clearance. 2 of their 6" jointer, and a 15" drill presses. i thought i would faint when they rang up $74, and $66 respectively.
I bought them all on the spot!
It was all about cleaning out the stock room.
Being at the right place at the right time. Min effort.

As for the Herc-U-Lifts. I drove every where and bought a half dozen when they were at 14.90, then a half dozen more when they were at $8.70. Max effort.

Put one on my TS, BS, TP, RT, mini-mill, mini-lathe, and 2 on my jointer, and i still have 4 left. They are just so useful.

(PS im entertaining offers for the my extra 4)
