Honestly, that wouldn't even require an ambitious WWer. The restoration req'd on that machine is very minor. It appears to be in 100% usable shape right now, only restoration req'd would be cosmetic.

That thing has been on CL for quite some time now...there is no way it's still available, or if it is, it's a scam.

Um, this is three phase. Would probably require a serious WW'er.

            ...or a phase converter unit.

$100 for a 12" jointer leaves plenty of cash for a phase converter, or even a new motor.

it's only $100 and probably in working condition and will last another 100 years but given the 1000# weight and space and the job of changing the motor or adding a 3-phase converter can be a serious job and possibly expense. I would not forsee the need to be planing 12" wide boards very often... if at all. I could not justify it even if i did not have a jointer. I imagine most others will be in the same situation. That's not even taking into account the geographical location.

OTOH, if you had a commercial cabinet shop already wired with 3ph power, lots of space and overhead cranes or pallet jacks/fork lifts then this would be a great bargain.

In the pix on the left The motor appears to seen with a flat leather belt, could be replaced with single phase motor. babbet bearings are harder to repair, they are poured from molten babbet metal.

I would bet money you own a planer that has a capacity somewhere between 12 and 13 inches....

I for one would love a 12" jointer....space constraints be ****ed!!

who cares if you don't need 12 inches wide. The long beds would be it's best feature. There was a new phase converter on CL Ventura for $50 recently
                      Would handle up to 5hp
The babbit bearings are another story. I have read on OWWM site many old tool restorers have replaced them as diy project but I have no personal knowledge of the difficulty of this. For $100 maybe it would make a great extra flat assembly table.
I bet the weight and size are hindering the sale other than local. I've seen fine old 5hp 3 ph TS sit around for sale for 6 months or more at cheap prices.

Anyone priced a 12" jointer lately? Even if you invested another $500 to make it useable, you'd come out way ahead. You could always sell it to the Navy as an aircraft carrier.

I, for one, would also love a 12" jointer, as I currently have a 12"-wide hickory panel made from 3 edge-joined boards that needs flattening.

Well, yes and no. I'm still kicking myself for passing up a 12" Delta when Amazon had them for around $700. Now they want over $3000 for them.

$100 for a jointer, add $150 for a VFD and you are done. What can you buy for $250 today? A good Skil saw? A reasonable router?
