[QUOTE=LarryG; Many is the time I've reopened a long thread with a nondescript title, only to think, "Oh, that's right, I looked at this yesterday, I don't care about any of this ..."[/QUOTE]

I thought I was the only one that did that Larry.

      i'm with loring.

and like david said, the CL listing is a pain to go thru to find an actual deal and if someone came up with one, then its a deal worth mentioning so that some one from our community can benefit. isn't that why we post bargins?

        List the price!!

One more thing.... as Loring says, this forum (all the forums!) are very useful for searches. If you want to see if you are getting a decent price on something today, knowing what it went on sale for in the past is a great tool. However, I am finding many posts that merely link to a sale item and do not explicitly list the price. When the post ages, the linked sale item goes off sale (or disappears altogether) and there is no way to know what all the hullabaloo was about.

So, please be sure to always list the item, model number and price, not just a link.

        Thanks!!
        Never met a bargain I didn't like.

I have a few cents to add, too. (Soon we'll have enough cents to buy something!)

Personally, I think the CL and local postings are informative -- helps me know what used tools are going for if I happen to run across them locally. I also think titles and descriptions should be informative, but not too wordy. I even like the occasional gloat because it gives me a good idea of what to look for myself -- like for a "broken - parts only" DeWalt thickness planer at Lowes... (I still can't believe that one!!)

I also like the idea of making sure the prices are included in the post. Maybe even the next best competing deal... And if it's a MIR or other type of promo offer.

For Amazon links, if you want an easy way to post them so that referral credit goes back to BT3Central, I have a link generator for that. (See my signature.) All you need to do is paste in the product code and the link generator will go get the product title and build a BBCode link for you that you can copy/paste here. (To be clear, I don't personally benefit from this, though it is a monetized site. Clicking the link you generate will tag you as a BT3Central referral so that BT3Central will earn a referral fee on anything you add to your cart over the following 24 hours.)

Thanks for this - I was wondering about that and this will make it very easy!

thanks for the tip alex. i read it on earlier post, but didnt know how to do it.

one question only: you do have to check out within the 24hr for BT3 to get the credit, correct?

              thanks once again.

No problem. Here's how it works: Anything you put into your shopping cart within the 24 hours after you click through a link tagged with BT3Central's affiliate ID (even if you click through the link and end up shopping for something else) will earn a referral fee for BT3Central even if you actually purchase it from your shopping cart later than 24 hours (so long as the cart hasn't expired -- like ~3 months.)

If you take it out of your cart and put it back in after the 24 hours, it won't count. Or if you click through a different referral link, then the new affiliate will start earning referral fees for things you put in your cart, but BT3Central will still earn the commission on things you had previously added before you clicked through the different link. Finally, if you place your order before the 24 hours is over, then any new items you place in your cart will not count -- you'll need to click through another BT3Central link again for them to start counting again.

BTW, the commission ranges from about 4 to 8.5 percent depending upon how many items are shipped, but usually at least 6%.
