    Ammeter closeout at Lowes

Lowes is closing out the Greenlee CMT-60 clamp on ammeter. Normally $78. Closeout price is $27.
I believe this is a nationwide clearance.

Does anyone have the SKU for this unit? The Lowes web site has a CM-600 listed for around $70, but I don't think it's the same one.

I don't care for greenlee products... give me my fluke.

The greenlee at work has a major phantom voltage problem. I don't trust using it for that reason.

Lowes on the way home had 6 CMT-60 in the cage, SKU was 158095, but the computer said it was $79.

          So, I didn't get one.

If you can afford (and justify) it, absolutely! Sadly I never could...

Well when you are testing 110-440 on a 3 phase service at work you want a meter you can trust.

I will see if I can scan a receipt for you.

They are a non-stock item and should be priced at $27 and change.

Find a nice person and have them check pricing and availablity at other stores in the area. You can call the Southlake store and confirm the $27.xx price. Same with Bedford.

The Greenlee meters have a lifetime warrantee so I think you should send it in.

I have had Flukes fail on me. One Fluke I have reads about 80VAC with the leads shorted. I have another Fluke that doesn't read anything on AC volts. I have three other Fluke meters that are OK. I think that equates to a 40% failure rate.

I have had brand new HP meters go south. One HP meter would read about 30 volts low. I have seen Tektronix meters go bad as well. I have seen just about every brand of meter break.

Will the Greenlee replace the original Amprobe? Not likely. But given the choice of no clamp on ammeter and a Greenlee digital, I will take the Greenlee.

Richard, good to see you are here in the metroplex. I tried the Ridgmar store last night. It looks like they have a holder for slips to take to the front to get it pulled, but the holder was empty. No special tag for price either. I will check another location tonight on the way home, but a scan of the receipt would be helpful!! TIA Jim.

Now that the word is out, you should call a Lowes and ask them to check other stores in the area. THey can check stock of other stores on the computer.

Great idea Richard. I called the Hulen store. They have 2 of them. Said their price on it was $67.00, but she checked with the mgr. and he will match it. This tells me they get pricing from corporate, but can choose not to lower them if they want. If you remember how many cents it is above 27.00 I'd appreciate it. I love a good deal, but don't want to take more than it should be.
Thanks again for the heads up! Jim.

I did get one at the Hulen store. None of us knew how many cents above 27.00 it was supposed to be, so she just rang it up at 27.00! What a gal!! It's snug in the shop for the time being. Raining like cats and dogs right now, so didn't want to stay out in the shop. Thanks again for the heads up. I've been looking for one for a while. Would rather have a better brand, but this should do what I need. Jim.
