It really doesn't seem like a bad deal. However, my neighbor just bought one last week and helped me put in the fence which I used all screws on.

The impact driver works good, but the batteries wore out quick. After two 10 ft sections of 4ft fence or about 200 - 1 5/8" deck screws he was out of juice and charging the battery. I did the other 9 sections using 2 batteries on my Dewalt 18V impactor.

I guess for most small jobs it wouldn't be bad.

I actually have this kit and I'm loving it. As far as the battery life, maybe he got a bad battery? I've had mine for a couple months and I have used it quite a few times driving probably a couple hundred screws total and haven't even re-charged it once!

Try and find another set like these for $100.00! A great bargain IMHO.

Thats what I was thinking. I have the combo and battery life seems fine.

I was told they share the same motor.

NiCad batteries take a few charge cycles to get up to full power.

That said, DeWalt batteries are higher quality but of course at a higher cost. Whether or not they are worth the cost depends on specific needs.

The one thing Craftsman has impressed me with is the battery-longevity. I am unable to believe how in-frequently I charge them.

Recently I added a CM hammer-drill to my shop and have used it to add a whole stack of wall-lumber-storage brackets and hang rails, hung up some large flower pots for LOML and other similar oddjobs on mortar/brick/concrete walls.
I was very happy with the 2 added batteries and the extra charger it came with. But I have not had to charge it even once in the 43 days I have had it - and I am perversely feeling cheated .

So this combo is a great value; only thing is, this offer is almost perpetual - i have seen it forever. Good buy if you are in the market.

3/8" chuck seems pretty small for 19.2V Drill. Other than that seems like a good deal.

Are these the tools made by Ryobi for Sears?

I have a big Ryobi set and think its a very good quality for the money. In the case of Ryobi, anyway, if the batteries are a problem they only cost $40 for 2--but I suspect Craftsman will want more for their batteries.
                Never met a bargain I didn't like.

Yes made by the same company but the batteries are a different style and do prob cost more. Also Ridgid is made by the same company. I have several Ryobi 18V tools and like them alot. For $159 right now you can get a Drill, Circular saw, Recip Saw, Vacume, and flashlight. And can add a extra tool for free so there is your Impact driver. For $59 more you can get more and there is more in the Ryobi line up of add ons. I personally like the trim router.

That's what I did. Should note though that deal ends TODAY.

I'll let him know, maybe they'll exchange it for him. Thanks!

So I just picked one up at the local store.
My old C'man 13.2 drill, one of the two battery packs just went dead.
I figured it was going to be $50 to fix it at battery rebuilders.com OR spend
$99 for a new higher volt 19.2 drill and impact driver and two batteries...

P.S. Made by Ryobi for Craftsman, prefix is 315. pack is Nicads, not NiMH if you are fussy.

                          QUIT TALKING ABOUT THIS COMBO!

Don't you guys/gals know I'm a drillaholic. Not that I need another cordless drill or impact driver.

Same here. One of the batteries for my 6 year old 19.2v drill failed and using the same reasoning I purchased this combo when it was on sale a month or so ago.

Anybody know how the impact driver compares to the Ryobi one? I have a ryobi set already and was thinking about adding the impact driver. However, for $30 more I can get 2 batteries and a drill...?
