    Re: truck delivery ...

Some vendors have a mandatory lift-gate charge for deliveries to a residential address. It's possible amazon.com assumes a residential address, but I don't know that for sure.

Whether the truck line calls to schedule delivery may depend on the carrier, and possibly whether its going to a residence or business address. When my Grizzly band saw was delivered to the office about three years ago, they didn't call ahead. I've not had a huge number of common-carrier deliveries over the years, either for myself or for the company, but that's always been my experience -- they just show up; no call. However, in all cases, the delivery was made to a business address.

For a cabinet saw, you will definitely either need a lift gate, or the assistance of three or four gorillas.

Going based on what i've read only (no experience here), the shipping company calls when the package reaches your local distribution center to schedule delivery. I've also read that Amazon shipments include lift gate service. I can't find anything on their site about this though. There have been stories at Woodnet about shipping companies trying to charge for lift gate service, and the receipient contacted Amazon and got it for free. This is all second hand information though.

    Sound off

How many here are going to refuse shipment of the 30"?

I sent an email to Amazon and CC'd Jeff Bezos saying how crazy their methods are. Turns out they "cannot" stop my shipment either. I know at least one other person is in the same boat.

    Reply here or PM me.

Jeffrey, if you get an answer on the extra liftgate charges please publish it here. Also, I am not aware that you need to schedule delivery... will the shipping company contact me for that or do I need to be proactive?

My wife is pretty good about this sort of thing. I tolerate her hobbies and she tolerates mine. But then she asks if I'm keeping the BT3. Um, no. Gotta sell it to make room and pay for the Jet.

Between all these JET purchases, Otter's and Sarge's Unisaws, Dustmight's 22124, and Keith's and my PM2000s -- and surely some others of which I'm not aware -- Sam may have to rename this place CabinetSawCentral. Or at least give all us Darksiders a section of our own.

I just ordered the 50"!! I couldn't stand it anymore, and LOML couldnt stand me talking about what a "once in a lifetime" deal it was....thanks for all the help and identifying this deal guys! Guess I've got to work on clearing room, getting an electrician in and selling my BT3.

Whats the best way to sell the BT3 locally? Classified?

Also - what accessories would you buy for this? Dado and Zero clearance?

Hey, for those that had the 30" ship and you are refusing, what was the deal with shipping? Was liftgate included? I have a friend who is asking. UPS/Overnight ususally charges around $40 for liftgate when they schedule delivery. Something to think about when they call to schedule delivery.

You guys are making it really tough, especially with the 14 page review of the saw Jeff found. I don't need a new table saw that's for sure but the deal is so good it's hard to resist. I'm hoping amazon raises the price on the 50"er soon, not sure I can be strong and resist temptation much longer.........the fiance is gonna kill me.

Who? Me? Actually I was absolutely not in the market at all! LOL!
Well, you are now a marked man Mr. Schronce Why? 'Cause you convinced me to spend a pile of money on a saw I really don't need.

Don't lose any sleep over it.

I found a used Powermatic this morning and was planning on seeing it this afternoon, except that I never got a call back from the owner. Meanwhile, this thread. The PM was $800 but I'd have to rent a truck and get some help to move it. By the time all was said and done, a new Jet wasn't much more.

Now I have to clean up the garage to make room, then find an electrician to install 220.

Is your shop a garage with a garage door? If yes, then you can install the TS near the door and open the door for longer cuts. Of course that applies to either 30" or 50" and really doesn't have anything to do with your question. See? I told you I was crazy.

    You are crazy.....
