Mine's being delivered tomorrow between 10 and 2. Pretty fast service. Now I have to get an electrician in.

Gary: I did work on some sketches yesterday, as planned, but didn't get the accompanying write-up completely finished and now see that your new thread has pretty much covered most of what I was going to say, anyway. The guys gave you some good food for thought.

    Jeff: Ummm ... no.

But I would be willing to offer my thoughts, for what they're worth, on any layout you're looking at. I went through a ZILLION permutations of the major-tools layout for my new shop space. At this point I'm not sure I know a whole lot about what DOES work, but I can offer reams of advice on what DOESN'T work.

That was quick. I just got a call from Eagle freight that my saw is in Tampa, and they have it scheduled for liftgate delivery tomorrow morning!

Well, my request to Cancel the 30" item has finally filtered thru and contrary to what the Amazon bigwig thought, they are going to eat something on this shipment (made it as far as Dallas from TN).

Gee, was just getting fixed on the idea that it was unstoppable and trying to see if I could make $360 on a resale on CL. How many here think Amazon should credit me an addition $360 opportunity cost?

If you're interested in the one with the 50" fence and router lift, you might want to keep an eye on it on Amazon. I just canceled an order for one. At the moment it is still showing up as unavailable, but it may change once the cancellation makes it through the system. I ended up picking up a unisaw from Woodworker's Supply today which to me was a better deal.

A lot of folks on SMC and WN bought this saw without the lift last year. They all used the Delta Mobile base you mention. Jet has one for the machine, as well as the mentioned HTC. The Delta is superior and less expensive.

    Thanks!
Amazon shows this base for the Jet w/ 50" fence but the reviews are not great, and it's $160: HTC HRS-10G Mobile Base for Delta Unisaw Table Saw with 52-Inch Unifence and Jet JTAS Table Saw with 50-Inch Xacta Fence http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B0000223L9

So a Delta base should fit the Jet cabinet, although it looks like the Delta extension table overhangs the legs a bit vs. the Jet legs at the end. This base is only $90, plus a buck to ship: Delta 50-289 Mobile Machine Base for Unisaw with 52-Inch Unifence http://www.amazon.com/Delta-50-289-M.../dp/B000022346

The Delta reviews are better, and include several from Jet owners. One Jet owner mentioned extending the end w/ a 2" angle. For $70 less and a rectangular base rather than the HTC which looks like it could be twisty, I wouldn't mind modifying it slightly. If it's a foot short, I'll exchange it.

When it all gets here I'll post the details.

Eagle called today for Tuesday delivery. Then they called back at 5:30 and asked if they could bring it tomorrow afternoon. Yee hah!

They do a "threshold delivery", said they could probably set it in the garage.

Blade is here. Delta mobile base shipped ($90, with much better reviews than the one Amazon shows for this saw) and should be here early next week.

So what's the best way to sell the 3000--here, craigslist? It's been fun but LOML won't let me keep both, and the shop is 9.5 x 23.5, anyway....

Eagle called me yesterday to set up a delivery time for the 30" that I ordered first. I told the guy that I canceled that order and they shipped it anyway.
He said thanks for not making us deliver it to your house....
He is sending it back, if they try to hit me with the shipping charge I will just state the truth, the saw was never delivered to my house.

Now that is what I call service! Feel like doing a whole shop lay out?
