Ten 6- to 12-inch trees for $10, shipped

This might be their every day membership deal, but I ran across this when looking for a place to buy my camcorder....

Grow your own wood! A new $10 membership at the National Arbor Day Foundation gets you ten 6- to 12-inch guaranteed-to-grow trees, shipping included:

    http://www.arborday.org/shopping/Mem...emberships.cfm

Choose from trees approriate in your "hardiness zone" -- like flowering trees, oaks, pines, ERC’s, redbuds, dogwoods, and more.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

yes, it's the everyday deal from them, but they do not ship the trees past the first one. And they aren't 6-12", more like 3-4".

Thanks -- good to know. I don't understand what you mean by "they do
not ship the trees past the first one." From their website it sounds like shipping is included for the whole lot...

Wow, I can't even imagine how much it would cost to ship trees at 6-12" diameter!

My in-laws apparently got them recently. They're apparently very much like 8-10 inch twigs, all shipped at once. You're supposed to plant them just anywhere for the first year, then replant them where you want them long term after that.

I think try them-- they'll probably be ready to harvest by the time I get my next project planned out, and dried by the time I'm ready to build.

Yep -- 100 seedlings for about $40-75 (plus $13 shipping) here in NC:
                  http://nc-forestry.stores.yahoo.net/bareroot1.html

Not sure what I'd do with 100 of them, though... I wonder if they're good in salads.

I think I dig up and toss about 20-30 live oak saplings every year that sprout in the garden where the acorns fall.

                        They're potentially 6-12" trees!

See, you could be pulling in an extra $10-20 a year. That's a whole set of Holbren router bits!!

Even better, you'd be a farm and probably get some pretty significant tax breaks, too.

Can I just plant 1/4" shank router bits and harvest 1/2" shank router bits a few months later?

I forgot to mention. They also grow in the flower pots, the cracks between the sidewalk as well as the gardens.
