Jet Deluxe Miter Gauge - $49.99 shipped

I'd never heard of this miter gauge under the Jet name, but one look told me it's made by Woodhaven. It's got less range than the WH Deluxe, but at $50 shipped it's a heck of a deal IMO.

Not the full range that the Woodhaven has. Should still be decent, but I think the Incra would be a step up, at the same price over at Woodcraft.

      Off to work
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Dunno...I ordered one and will give it a try. I like the V27 alot for the price, but I love my friend's WH Deluxe.

Edit: I'm seeing posts that they're sold out...moot point now.

On a related note ... I was all set to order the Woodhaven gauge until I received, in yesterday's mail, the latest issue of WOOD Magazine. Seems they are currently testing a batch of high-end miter gauges and will have a tell-all article in the Oct 2007 issue. Given the price of these things, I've decided to wait four or five months and see what they have to say.

I had one in my cart, returned to the site and they are sold out. Customer service said the one in my cart is no longer valid and they will no longer carry these. On the flip side, Woodcraft has the Incra V27 on sale for $47.99, maybe a better deal.

Nice deal on the INCRA. Free shipping code doesn't work for me.

For about $13 more, get the V27 with a nice miter gauge fence.

Could you expand? Why would you say it's better : just the price, or something more?

(no beef - the price is pretty nice, i admit)

It is 6" longer than the Incra 1000 (non-SE), the fence is taller and it appears a little more stable than the Incra 1000.

The fence Hartville is including is "on sale" for $25 (reg. $35-40)... it is "free" w/ the deal sited above.... but at $59 the v27 is sort of at the current high-end of pricing (Amazon has it $51, Woodcraft $47). If you buy from Woodcraft via Shop.com (see my other thread) and get some more stuff > $70 it will ship free. Amazon of course ships it free as well. For me, both charge tax... so they come out to $56 and $51 respectively. Compare that to Hartville w/ $60 for the V27 + fence + $9.95 shipping (no tax to me) and the Hartville w/ fence comes in at $70 delivered.

All this is to say... that free fence is actually costing $14-19. Am I correct in thinking this is still the best deal? (Miraculously Amazon had not yet shipped my V27 I'd ordered the other day and I was able to cancel the order... definitely a first for me.)

So waiting to see what y'all say before I pull the trigger on Hartville.
                        Never met a bargain I didn't like.

Which way to go is ultimately a matter of preference. I like my V27 alot, but it definitely benefits from a fence (I'll likely put a fence on the Jet Deluxe too). The question is whether or not that Hartville fence is worth the premium of $14-$19. It's not hard to add a shop-made hardwood fence. On the other hand $70 for an Incra with a pre-made fence is a pretty nice deal IMO.

Here's a pic of my V27 with Hartville's 36" fence. What I don't like about that setup is that the Hartville fence isn't a direct bolt on with existing holes...I needed to add a backer to make it fit. (...In case anyone spots and questions it, I upgrade the handle on the V27)

Has anyone had any experience with this miter gauge -

                            http://www.amazon.com/Woodhaven-950-...051163&sr=1-22

Just run across it, looks similar to the initial posted miter gauge, but only $19.99.

The way I read it, that item is just the gold-colored accessory used to align the miter gauge, not the miter gauge itself.

The listing is rather misleading, though.
