Seems to have mix reviews but I desperately need one. Unfortunately CFO has put a freeze on the power tool purchase entitlement. Man, how I wish I was still in Sales because this is about the time of the year when I get my incentives from last year.Chris

You simply need to point out to the CFO that most investors like to see investments in R&D and labor saving plant automation. With panel sanding and other activities you could see a 50% efficiency gain, allowing you to cut your headcount in half (in a one man shop...
).
I have a 10/20". I like it and use it a lot, though larger would be better (though the footprint for this is easier to deal with). However, at the time I bought it, with sales and discounts it was under $400 and the 18" model's were more than double that. At $599 that would have been a much harder call.Comment

LOL.. I love this. So, to add to this peer pressure, I'll tell you that this as good a price on this thing as I've ever seen even with the shipping. So, there is a lost opportunity cost here as well. Given that you eventually need one... lol - nah, don't get in hot water over power tools, that's what I always say. I'm in a bit of budget freeze myself, I know the feeling.
All that said, I have this bad boy in the shop and I do like it quite a bit. Didn't have any issues with mine but the trick is to not take off much material at any given time. 1/64" at a time is pretty much max. One thing, at least for me, a mobile base was a requirement so you would have to figure that into the cost as well.Comment
