Router is back to $49.99. Price I paid for mine. But thats what some chinese ones are going for at eBay so I think it is still worth it.

I spent almost that for the planer last summer ($75). As I said above, I think it works better than my Bosch planer--the three blade design is pretty neat. I thought it was a great deal for $75...kind of the planer equivalent of the BTK3--innovative design, functions well, etc.
I got the router kit Monday. The case is like a small suitcase. No, make that a medium suitcase. I haven't turned it on yet...just got around to seeing what I'll need to attach one of the bases to the AIO router thing.
Had it cost $100, it would seem like a pretty good deal...far better than the weirdo Skil 'hybrid', a term which some copywriter must have come up with instead of "two base" kit.
I'm not sure there's any fair comparison for this router at $49 (let alone the 39 one of the posters here found).
All the GMC tools (except the miter saws) come with cases, usually have extra blades (and sometimes brushes). Buying tools that are low to mid price usually means under-powered (B and D), clunky design (Craftsman), or chintzy (some Skil)...at full price, GMC stuff would easily lead that pack, and at the sale prices are much higher quality than the same money would buy in 'cheap tools' (no-brand, HF).
Most cheap tools just make you wish you'd saved the money and applied it to the ones you really wanted. The really great thing about the GMC stuff is that you don't kick yourself for buying it while you wait until you can afford the good stuff.
I ordered the detail sander Saturday for $16...still not exactly sure why. That brings my GMC lineup to 6 with CMS, rotary tool, planer, jigsaw, router...seems like I'm forgetting something.Comment

I got my GMC 2-1/4HP Router Kit!
Just received the router kit and have not yet used it, but I am impressed! This is an unbelievable deal. In addition to the sheer quantity of parts, there is also a sweet deluxe edge guide with micrometer adjustment! I can't wait to put this to use. I'll report back on how well it works later, but this could be the best deal ever for me!"I see", said the blind man, so he picked up his hammer and saw.Comment

Now the price jump back to $82.86 on Amazon.com. Other GMC tools are also priced higher. Seems deals are over.Comment

Got Mine Too
Mine cane in this morning. It had some features I hadn't expected. All three bases have built-in dust collection. Bith 1/2" and 1/4" collets came also. It has a good-looking fence system with micrometer adjustment, a built-in shaft lock, and several extra dust collection attachments. I bought this router kit for my son, figuring to use the fixed base in a BT3 router table rig I'm making for him.
One think I'm disappointed with is the extreme stiffness of the adjustment ring on the fixed base. You have to use it to screw the moror in for its full length, and this proved challenging. Does anyone have any sage advice on how to loosen it up? I tried 10W40, qnd that helped a little, but it's still awfully stiff.
I'm going to have to rethink using that fixed base in a router table. It might prove too hard to adjust under the table. Perhaps I should use the plunge base. The motor drops straight out of it. Any thoughts?

The router has just a 1/2" collet ? Or also a 1/4" I couldn't find that mentioned anywhere.
Is there a manual online for it ?

Mine did come with a 1/4" collet--I was glad to see it, because I'd wondered, as well.
Try the company's website for the manual. Incidentally, either they bought Triton or Triton bought them a couple of years ago.

I'm going to the site now.
So it has both collets then ? The 1/2" and 1/4" ? That's great if so.
I already have a PC694VK (I think it is) with two bases. But this will let me leave one hanging in the router table and still have the other with that D-handle or plunge base for the other stuff. For $50, it was worth it.

Inside the enormous case (besides the 1/4" collet and everything else) is also what may or may not be a bushing. It's metal and round but doesn't exactly look like a bushing (the o.d. seems to be about the right size)...?
What I do like about the bases is that they're identical (the base of the bases)...so if you screw one up, you've still got the other two to perfect your modification.Comment
